So how is it an accomplishment being black or American or gay or Latino or blond or male? People being born a certain way does not give them something to be proud of - just as they cannot be faulted for being that way and should not be discriminated against.

No, she's disregarding the merits of an entire movement on the basis of her troubled childhood and her terrible mother.

She founded one of the first ever domestic violence refuges, then watched as feminists hijacked it and turned it into a gender-specific crusade. When she tried to point out that women were often just as violent as men, and that part of the problem was the fact that some women seek out and stay with violent men, she and her family were subjected to picketing, death threats and bomb scares from feminists, to the point where she needed police protection. They even shot and killed her dog.

This is a poor article and every mention of feminism seems to be a non-sequitur, but there is a more solid basis for her grudge against feminism, this particular article just fails to cover it.
