Ideally, kids come after marriage. All relationships I've observed where it's the other way around have progressed like that unintentionally and it rarely goes well.

But has anyone here ever approached their relationship with "let's start having kids (or at least one kid) before getting married so we don't waste time"? What about getting legally married first, then kids, then a proper wedding later?

Obviously, this makes more sense for those who are older (30+ I would think) and who are confident about the continued success with their relationship. I'm just wondering if anyone has done this, how it worked out for them, and how much criticism they got from family/friends (or anyone who didn't believe it was planned that way).
