NHS Scotland official policy discriminates against men. they ask all women if they experienced domestic violence but they ask men only if they see a signs of abuse !

One of the reasons they give for this sexist policy is that "men are less likely to experience domestic violence" ! but if you ask all women and only ask men if they have signs of abuse this will inevitably lead to less male victims !

Even if men are less likely to experience domestic violence, why not asking all men maybe that man you ask is part of the victims ?! this policy make no sense !

Unfortunately Scotland has many issues due to the SNP being far too authoritarian. Misogyny is illegal while misandry is totally legal for example. Unfortunately they gain votes because they are the only Scottish pro-independence party.

What a joke. Men are less likely to have visible injuries, so looking for marks won't work anyway. As he said, men are much less likely to come forward than women about abuse. This does seem designed to lower the ratio of men to women complaining about abuse.

The one thing it's missing is at the end where he says "if you want to complain to NHS Scotland please do so" is information on how to go about registering a complaint.

This reminds me of a healthcare app that gave people advice based on symptoms. With the same set of symptoms and ages, it told men they might be having a heart attack and to call 911, and told women that they were probably experiencing an anxiety attack and to lie down. I believe they fixed it, because obviously that could cost lives.

The reason it strikes me as similar is because abuse victims are rarely passively submitting to their abuse. Many symptoms of being a victim of domestic violence - angry outbursts, self-medicating, self-harming, irrational and compulsive behavior - are shockingly similar to being a perpetrator of domestic abuse.

I think even if they asked men and women the same set of questions, it would only be a start. A lot of male victims would still be flagged as potential abusers for the symptoms they display.

These studies are not conducted to determine what factors lead to DV, nor are they actually about determining a link between gender and DV. Their flawed methodology is by design, to create arguments that support preconceived notions and policies. Creating a simple victim/perpetrator narrative that is easy to digest has been an effective tool used by governments to increase popularity. In this case, by creating a narrative that women are victims/men are perpetrators, it creates a clear path for governments to create an environment where emotions are rife (what is actually a complex issue that cannot just be solved by funding), into a simple problem that is being rectified by proper funding.

Sometimes these kinds of studies with a preconceived notion still do backfire though, where the study will recommend taking the opposite action. There was a study conducted in Australia that found that when candidates were hired purely on merit, the ratio of men to women getting hired increased. As such, the study then recommended that a merit based approach is undesirable to achieving gender equality, and that in order to achieve gender equality, gender basic hiring policies need to be implemented. This is of course a nonsensical argument, and I can say with almost certainty, that if the opposite findings were found, this would be used as evidence that women are discriminated based on gender, and that an anonymous merit based approach is required.
