Thread

I found this comment to be extremely demeaning .

Reading that thread I couldn't tell if my urge to burst out laughing or my urge to vomit was stronger

Rhetorically speaking this a terrible start. Whilst going through a thread where a group of men discuss their experience with sexual assault OP's reaction is amusement because their experiences are too tame as far as she is concerned

So many stories, not a single one including any fear of rape, death, or even physical violence.

This is a straight up lie maybe she wrote this when the thread didn't have many replies but literally the first post is about a 30 year old woman trying to coerce a 15 year old back to her house.

I may be way off base here but I feel that this thread reeks of feminist insecurity. I think some feminists (#NotAll) feel very protective over terms like sexual harassment/assault. To these feminists seeing men discuss sexual assault in their own spaces uninhibited feels very threatening to them. Men will never experience sexual assault on the same scale as a woman (in the eyes of these people at least.) therefore hearing men discuss these issues feels like an intrusion in a way. I think this is a valid concern in some cases and stems from conservative MRAs hijacking conversations about these topics so I do understand the reaction to an extent.

I dunno it felt odd to me seeing a post like that garner 50 or so upvotes would be interested in hearing your thoughts. tbf the rest of the commenters in the thread are relatively reasonable and I don't have any problem with the original thread itself and I think it makes a good point
