I have nothing against female empowerment per se. So long as it doesn't venture over into abject misandry.

We can also hold women to it. Empowerment is supposed to be a two way street. It means doing things yourself instead of getting a man to do it. It means paying for things yourself instead of getting a man to buy things for you. It means not expecting the man to court and run after you. Etc.

We all know this doesn't happen in reality but I guess that is a silver lining. The equivalent "male empowerment" should really be to hold women equally accountable for things.

Yes she should pay for things.
No you're not her chauffeur.
If she's holding out for sex she's likely using you. A real woman knows what she wants and doesn't make you jump through hoops to get it.
You can tell her to shut up if she's nagging you. In fact this is a form of domestic abuse.
Yes you're doing enough around the house -- she's probably the one not pulling her share of the workload (as actual research on this topic has found).
If she complains about her share of the chores it's gaslighting and tantamount to abuse.

Why do you think the blowback wasn't harsh enough and it was so appalling?

The talk was trashy and egotistical and certainly worth criticising even for men's lockerroom talk but was also not as is often portrayed him declaring that any woman's pussy was his for the taking.

No one seems to have listened to the whole conversation to get any context. He describes in the preceding sentences how he went after a woman and did everything he could and she wasn't interested so he moved on. Clearly showing at least some degree of understanding of consent/personal choice as he didn't say "she rejected me so I felt her up anyway".

He then starts talking about how much he likes to kiss women and somewhat incredulously states he can just grab them by the pussy. He is referring to groupies who are interested in him (as much as we may not understand why) and are consenting to his actions ("they let me do it"). He is surprised they are up for it (eg he wouldn't do it if they weren't) again demonstrating understanding on some level of consent.

Is this boastful, brass and disrespectful, of course. Is it someone describing how they sexually assault women or think women's bodies are generally available to them, No.

Is he a pig, sexist and has likely committed some sexual crimes, most probably but this isn't the smoking gun it is suggested to be.

What do you mean there are no narratives empowering to men? Then why are so so many stories focus on the idea of a boy becoming a man? Is that not an empowering narrative?

Or how literally all shonen anime are about men who are either incredibly powerful or gain incredible power against all odds. Are none of these things empowerment?

And why is a line of women running together so infamous? It’s just a bunch of women that happened to be in a line. They didn’t even know each other or do anything important after that. Really puts into perspective just how thin skinned this is.

And how is girl power a thing of 2016? It’s been a thing since the 90’s. Charlie’s angels, Buffy the vampire slayer, charmed, you get the idea.
