A frequent argument that is made towards various different women, is that of being a "pick-me". A "pick-me" is a variation of "not like other girls" where it is alleged that said woman is only saying or doing something because she wants to earn male approval and get men to like her.
The first reason I dislike this argument is because it appears to be applied quite randomly. Conservative women may be called "pick-me"s. Women who voted for Bernie Sanders were accused of the same. Women who like video games, or traditionally male endeavors may also face similar accusations.
I do find it the opposite of empowering to imply that many women's deeply and most passionately held beliefs are actually all about men. This doesn't seem to be a very feminist standpoint. And while yes, I am sure some women out there may change themselves or their behavior out of desperation for validation or male attention, it appears like many of the women I see accused of being pick-me's appear to simply be women who are genuine in their beliefs, unpopular as they may be. Candace Owens may hold beliefs people find offensive but I don't think she is being dishonest that these are her thoughts and opinions.
But worse than that, I do believe that there is actually an underlying symptom of the "women as wonderful effect". This type of narrative appears to imply that women are almost never wrong, never stupid, or genuine in detestable views. Instead, these women are smarter than they appear and are merely pretending to adopt certain opinions to get men to like them. It seems to be rooted in a belief that women can't be evil, or ignorant (or conservative) but rather that they are only masquerading as these things for approval. Even when it seeks to criticize, it somewhat defends or excuses. See, this woman isn't really a Trump supporter, isn't really anti-vaxx, won't actually vote for that candidate, she is just saying as much so men will like her.
Not only does this lump "men" together as one homogeneous group but it gives women a free pass that isn't deserved. And of course, many of the criticisms that get women accused of being "pick-me"s can be rather asinine and don't even have to be detestable, merely different or outside the norm of other women. Something as simple as liking video games can result in being called a pick me. Or something like supporting men's rights *cough* can also lead to such insulting accusations.

This is what i hate the most about feminism, they pretend to be against sexist stereotypes but no one perpetuate it more than them: all women who disagre with them are slaves for men with no agency. only women are victims of domestic and sexual abuse. men are self sufficient and we should only create programs to help women, men who talk abut men's rights are baby and whiners etc etc ...
I don't even know if we can change this, it's almost impossible to make even 5 % of the society care about men's rights .. maybe the future will be even worst with more female politicians :'(
