I saw this on TV just now and am so pissed over it. I think it was an ad for a foundation called Joyful Noise? I could be mistaken. Anyway, it had some of the male actors of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit saying "boys will be boys" in an unsure tone like they saw something bad but are excusing it, and this was following by a slogan saying "together, we can raise a generation of men to respect women and girls." And how about also raising a generation of women to respect boys and men? I'm so sick and tired to death of this divisive rhetoric and how constantly, gender hatred or bad behavior is made out to be a male-only thing when I can think of so many females I've known in my life who are among the most mean, nasty and unrespectable people I've ever had the displeasure of knowing. Sorry, but women and girls also need to be taught to respect men and boys, and girls shouldn't be allowed to be girls whenever they say or do something wrong that deserves to be reprimanded. It reminds me of that awful Gillette ad, which although having good intentions went about it in a completely wrong way by only focusing on bad male behavior while completely ignoring the fact that women can also be toxic and mistreat males. Campaigns like this I feel actually hurt gender equality and only give the Right more ammunition.
