I'm seeing more and more of this: feminists using "mansplaining" accusations to deal with being publicly proven wrong

Female BBC manager publicly declines promotion over pay inequality | After she threw a public tantrum, it's revealed that the male manager had several years more experience than her, justifying the difference in pay. The BBC is standing firm for once - good for them!

Woman divorced her husband and got $15m. He later listed his company on the stockmarket and earned $93m. You guessed it: she's now suing him for more money...

Law 101. First sentence, page 1: if you are the defence lawyer for a woman...

[–]Anxious_Parfait8802 31 points32 points33 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Yep classic case of “I’m actually the victim when I committed a crime”.

[–]Heliorept 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I don't think that defense is going to hold up well. We have seen a similar defense used during the recession by several CEO's of corporations that were trying to make their stock prices look better than they actually were.

[–]eldred2 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

How many were women?

[–]Heliorept 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Fair point, but I am still very doubtful of this defense. Lawyers are really good about citing court cases to undermine the prosecution/defense. It would not surprise me if they do this in this case.

Ghislaine Maxwell would like a word with you

I'm surprised Maxwell lasted this long behind bars without being "su1cided."

[–]TFME1 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Don't you mean Arkan-cided?

When she’s on top, she’s an independent visionary and all the naysayers are sexist and misogynistic.

When she’s in front of a judge, she’s an unfortunate abused woman who can’t be held responsible for her innocent mistakes in a patriarchal society.

[–]mynameispuddleofmudd 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wait what? She's not cancelled by now?

"Elizabeth Holmes, the founder of blood-testing startup Theranos, plans to defend herself at her federal fraud trial starting next week by arguing that her ex-boyfriend, who was an executive at the company, emotionally and sexually abused her, impairing her state of mind at the time of the alleged crimes, according to newly unsealed legal filings in her case."

Holmes is blaming all of her lies and pinning the fraud of her own sham product that doesn't do sh1t on her ex-boyfriend??

She probably killed people who relied on her damn machine to give them accurate results. There were people who received lab results telling them there were no anomalies. One man retested at an actual lab and found that his blood count was not okay and he had leukemia. She promised quick, accurate results, but her company ended up sending some blood samples to real labs to be tested. Is that her boyfriend's fault too? He was hired as a yes man. Anyone in the company who questioned her about deficiencies in her product was fired.

This company and the box were Holmes' brainchild. If anything, she's the one who abused her bf. She has a demonstrable pattern of consistent lies. She won't get away with this. If only for the fact that she duped wealthy investors who fell for whatever charm she had.

She must not get convicted of anything or it will deter other brilliant women from starting up ground-breaking companies.

[–]WingsofSky 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It wouldn't have been so bad. If she had let the techs use more than just one drop of blood. But she dug her own grave.

[–]StudentOfTheTruth0 22 points23 points24 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

She claims she fired Baldwani. So much about who controlled whom. She was the founder and CEO, too.

[–]pappo4ever 13 points14 points15 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Let me get this straight, so she was the founder, CEO, and she fired him, but actually she's the victim? and he had power over her? LMAO.

Feminism Rule #0: Blame men.

[–]mjsansai 21 points22 points23 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

The women grasp at straws and play victim, why isn't society sick of this reoccurring scenario when women get caught they blame anyone but themselves.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

society is sick of it, the majority of women included.

the problem is that with the advent of the internet and the rise in social fucking media, the loudest and whiniest voices are the only ones everyone hears.

the silent majority sit with their morning coffee, watching the news and despairing of the state of the world before continuing with their lives.

[–]WingsofSky 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But the judge is going to cry with her. Probably.

She will probably get away with only house arrest. Maybe a $5 fine. But she's a woman and probably pregnant. So we don't need her in prison.

[–]rsa1x 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Are women children or something?

[–]Greg_W_Allan 16 points17 points18 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Has absolutely nothing to do with her commission of one of the biggest frauds ever.

[–]mikesteane 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

She has also announced she is pregnant which was predicted here

[–]Eustace_Savage 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

She's already given birth. It's a boy, of course.

[–]mynameispuddleofmudd 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

God help her son. Her extended family needs to start saving up for future therapy bills now.

[–]pappo4ever 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In my country this is called 'embarrar la cancha' or 'mudding the playing field', it's a technique to make things complicated and slow to gain something from it. In this case, play the victim.

[–]idontneedausername89 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What a psychopathic bitch this woman is.

[–]ILoveBigBoobsYesIDo 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Woman CLEARLY in the wrong, committed horrible things and then play victim and all of a sudden blaming the guy??

Guys guys guys... you can't make this shit up lol

Woman moment.

[–]HEMIfan17 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Even if it's true, I fail to see how any of it would have caused her to go out and defraud people out millions.

[–]dukunt 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She's banking on it that the judge will see things differently...

Women have no shame. They’ll do anything and everything to take from men and avoid repercussions because the system greatly favors women.

[–]Sheeem 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Anyone else feels she had a baby to try to get sympathy with her sentencing? Because I do.

[–]EricAllonde[S] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes, agreed.
