I'm 17 and I'm gonna be as blunt as I can. It pisses me off when we have lessons on Global perspective, discussing and presenting about, well.. global issues. Like Syria, Israel-Palestine and Afghanistan. It took me a sentence to say that "boys are raped frequently and made to dance wearing feminine clothing. This practice is called the bacha bazi" the teacher said "this is a conspiracy, please dont talk about stuff like these when there are no proper evidence." We moved on, we talked about the successful evacuations of countless women and girls, but the abandonment of young and teenage boys might severely damage their mental health, and if past reports of boys joining the Taliban out of spite and vengeance are anything to go by, a great big mistake has likely been commited, especially now when they are simply going to function as pawns to the Taliban government and how if the practice of Bacha Bazi has the same punishment (death) and crieterias as they did in 1996, its often the young boys, not the perpetrators themselves who are executed. Was asked to stop presenting cause "I was projecting" and that this issue is miniscule compared to the suffering of women, which we did cover earlier, and is simply not much more than restrictions. The practice of Bacha Bazi is seen as more ethical then defiling a woman... its just that moment when u truly realise school is very much useless but something that we need to tolerate, especially since I already have a career plan that requires graduation from high school. Dont even know if this made sense, just had to get it out of my chest, cause pretty much all the girls in my class are looking at me as some sort of rapist, and now the other teachers have heard of my blalant "ignorence of women suffering" (even if we presented a whole 15 minute section focusing on women while mentioning boys twice) and one of the boys simply tapped my shoulder and said "2021, you should have seen this coming". Indeed i should have. I figure gettong 0 marks for not doing my assignment would have been better off than the whole school (minus most of the boys and the janitor, a very nice lady) looks at me as if I'm some kind of monster. Am at the cafeteria rn, and genuinely dont have any shits left to give.
