I don't think your post is entirely coherent. I don't mean that as an insult.

First you say that you don't understand the interest in sex. Then you say intimacy is

when you feel the other person moves in the same way you do. That is when you unite in sex and it becomes so much more meaningful and pleasant

So you do understand sex in the context of an exclusive relationship where you have feelings for a person (I think anyway)

The you say

And that is a whole lot to unpack but...

If sex is being united and moving the same way and being on the same wavelength the why wouldn't that be the ultimate pleasure?

Do you mean that you don't understand casual sex?

I disagree. Physical intimacy (aka sex) isn't everything, but I don't think it's any less important than thoughts, feelings, or anything else you are talking about. The last guy I was with told me that I was too focused on sex, shamed me for it, and told me that sex was just "a bonus" in a relationship. I didn't agree because, to me, sex is a huge component in a healthy relationship. Sure, I want a relationship that's comprised of a lot of different elements; I want to spend time with someone, talk, bond, share interests and connect on a level that is not physical. I want us to see each other. But I also want to make love and take part in physical intimacy. I want to cuddle and talk about what makes us tick, what turns us on, and to act on that. Making love is such a sacred act to me. I can talk to anyone all day long but what cements true bonding for me is physical intimacy. I don't just have sex with anyone, I don't just share my body with anyone. In my opinion, it's one of the most vulnerable acts I can experience with a man.

I think this is all going to be dependent on the person you talk to and what elements in a relationship that they find most important. There's no right or wrong answer to this. Everyone finds the unity you speak of in different ways.

I have always felt the same way! Funny this subject should come up now...ive been thinking about this lately as This sentiment is echoed in the Ringing Cedars book series I'm reading at the moment, and it's refreshing to finally be seeing similar viewpoints to mine popping up lately. (This series can be described as something like spiritual permaculture I suppose, but it encompasses a lot more things and now that I think about it, could be pretty well aligned with RPW) I've also run into this concept when studying tantra. My whole life I've been made to feel weird or defective for being this way. I honestly think it's a pretty normal way to view sex and intimicy, and maybe more so for women.

I think I get where you are coming from. Sex for me is just... mechanical. Release at the end is nice, but so is a good back scratching. I too prefer the intimacy of thoughts and feelings, of being really close to someone on a mental/emotional level.

That said, part of sex is vulnerability. When you open yourself up to being with someone else physically, it can be one of the most intimate things around... if you two are on the same page. If you're both working together to explore each other's responses, bodies, and feelings, not rushing or just seeking release but honestly invested in the sexual dance, then yeah, it can be magical, even for someone like us.

But that kind of sexual connection is hard. it takes work. The more selfless and giving the both of you are, the easier it is to achieve.

Without this unity, I actually do not feel absolutely anything when having sex. It is just a motion.

I agree 95%. I mean, sex without connection, without intimacy, is just masturbation with another person in the bed. Which can be nice, but yeah, I don't get why so many people seek sexual intercourse, often to their own detriment/destruction at the extremes. I can't fathom it.

We, as humans, have a fascination with sex in the same way we have a fascination with food. It's a primal need/want and not everyone is going to be as discerning about what kind of sex/food is actually good for them and worth having. You've got masses of people who are content eating McDonald's every day just the same as you have people who are willing to have casual sex. Both of those things may temporarily fill a hole (ha), but you gain zero long-term satisfaction. Within an hour you'll be hungry again, and you go back to that fast-acting solution because building a long term relationship/cooking a healthy and nutritious meal takes time, effort, and skill.

I do agree. Great sex can be an ultimate pleasurable experience, but not especially. I think that honour goes towards psychedelics like LSD or DMT, or empathogens like MDMA, which can take people to insanely high levels of hedonia and more reliably and consistently than sex. And perhaps brain-chips and neuro-prostheses like Neuralink will open doorways to ranges of experience beyond even these substances.
