All research about attraction are theory based. Long story short: we believe that something is true but it’s never a fact. So don’t overthink it :)

While the social psychology them is ‘propinquity’ meaning “like attracts like”. In most cases is true. There are still exceptions and researchers trying to explain why sometimes opposites attracts as well. And there are theories for that as well.

The idea of guys looking for someone who looks like their mother or a women looking for a guy who looks like her father is different story.

The important thing to remember is that looks aren’t everything. But to answer your question, I’ll put it this way: There is no happy, well-adjusted bombshell who would look at your attitude on here and find that attractive. You’re much better off trying to become the type of person that you would want to date. Take control of your own life and start making things better for yourself, regardless of whether or not you think there’s some perky brunette at the other end of the tunnel.

In general people like others who are similar to them. Whether its looks, values, hobbies, religion, or anything you have in common. The more the better.

I'm probably shooting myself in the foot by responding to this, but I've got nothing better to do.

I have black hair, brown eyes and tan skin. Perhaps not so coincidentally, I'm most attracted to women with dark hair, brown eyes and darker skin. I find pale skin, blond hair and blue eyes the least attractive. I'm not saying I'd never date a fair-skinned, blue-eyed blond, I just prefer dark features more. The fact that I was painfully rejected by a white blond girl may have something to do with my dislike of blondes. Along with my rebelling against the Eurocentric ideal.

But when it comes to body type, my preferences are all over the place. I'm most attractive to muscular fit women despite being a morbidly obese weakling. I don't find fat women attractive (with a few exceptions such as British model Lucy Collett) so I'll have to either lose weight and get in shape or learn to settle. I'm also not a big fan of rail thin women either.

And, yeah, I've heard that people tend to be subconsciously attracted to people who resemble their parents and I believe there's a lot of truth to it. The white blond girl I mentioned before definitely had a resemblance to my mother (My mother had brown hair before she went gray and green eyes, but the girl's face and body were similar). However, if you had a bad relationship with your parents, you may seek partners similar to them as a way of fixing the problem. Neither of my parents are particularly good people, so I've decided that if any woman I date even remotely reminds me of one of my parents, to run immediately.

Ultimately, attraction is complicated. Most people end up with partners who are similar to them. Others end up with complete opposites. I think it depends on how you feel about yourself. If you're secure, you seek out partners who are similar to you. If you're insecure, you seek out partners who are "better" than you, as a way of making up for your "weaknesses". I'm pretty sure that my insecurities about my own body and lack of strength is at least part of the reason why I'm so drawn to female bodybuilders and fitness models. I like my hair, eye and skin color, so I guess that's why I like those traits. Which leads to a darker point in my past...

I used to think black women were ugly and trashy. I'm also biracial and became a self-hating racist due to bullying. I'd deny being part-black despite it being obvious to anyone with working eyes. Once I graduated high school and wasn't around racist rednecks all the time, I came to peace with my race and I would now be open to dating black women.

Anyway, that concludes my opinion on the matter.

Honestly, I'm attracted to most people. I've been attracted to and dated all kinds of women, men, and people beyond the binary. When I look at my former partners as well as my current partner, there really aren't any common traits that they share.

Some fall under what's considered conventionally attractive, and some do not.

There are lots of theories into why people are attracted to x, y, or z -- but they are all just that: theories. As with lots of things, it's probably a combination of nature and nurture, and it also doesn't really matter why.

Im a firm believer that most normal people (ie not rich or famous) end up with someone similar to them on the attractive scale. People shoot themselves by continually aiming for people out of their league.

On a side note, alot of post here seem to mention physical attractiveness.. seems like the ex redpill guys here tend to value attractiveness over actual compatibility
