A couple of reasons:

Gender expectations for men have a lot to do with success, however that is defined in any particular culture. Those expectations remain relatively unchallenged today, by both men and women.
Women are more readily perceived as a victim group, so individual women tend to receive more empathy than individual men, especially for female-coded issues like beauty and ugliness.

Arranged marriages were common so when looking for a guy the father's usually looked for societal status and success as key attributes and looks as a secondary attribute. These things still the qualities somehow the society expects of men

To some extent this is engrained into our psychology so deep it is effectively instinctual. We should still try to change it, but don't expect it to change drastically at the drop of a hat.

Societies depend on men for its basic structures, electricity, food and water, protection, etc. Weakness of those people means a higher chance of failure which can result in death, hence it must be eliminated. Because it is impossible to say that there is a problem if you can not see its symptoms.

One side of this is the lack of empathy towards men, as it allows pretending that the issue doesn't exist.

Maybe because male genital mutilation is normal. What if they just stopped cutting babies? Would they understand males should have the right to have a whole body... probably not lol

Because said men are seen as subhumans, defective, etc.

And thus not worthy of respect or care. Better they have died then continue to exist.

I think this video does the best job of explaining why people are less empathetic to men's struggles.

People find it easier to view men as perpetrators and harder to view them as victims.So when a man is struggling people think it is his fault.

People basically assume your struggling because of something your doing, and not because of an unfortunate event that happened that you had no control over.

Men like other men, the only reason would be how women view men, how men treat each other inorder to get women.
