Men make up the majority of the prison population. The amount of men dying behind bars is a tragedy. The US has the highest incarceration rate of any developed nation. Black people make up 40% of those incarcerated.

The reasons for inprisonment mainly stem from lack of opportunities in the real world, and lack of investment in infastructure.

Suicide in prison is higher for males. Conditions in male prisons are worse than in female prisons.
