After a year-long dating hiatus I finally went on a date. The guy did all the right things - proper communication, well-planned dinner, we had a lot in common, etc. After a fun second date we were talking on the phone about exes and I baited him a bit saying I broke up with a guy because he followed all his exes on social media, still talked to them under the guise of being friends. (Didn’t tell him this: it really f’d me up for a long time.)

So then he shared that he talks to two women he dated. One who is like 15 years younger than him 🙄 but he didn’t sleep with and one who is married now. He regularly goes to events together for a shared interest with the second. Sometimes with her husband.

The next morning I texted that I appreciated the honesty but being friends with exes is a dealbreaker for me and I wished him the best. Should have blocked but I didn’t. Got a long text about how I should give him a chance to trust him, he was trying to be honest, how great I was, blah blah blah.

Had a third date and it continued to go well but then he had plans with this friend. He did invite me but I couldn’t go. I got really triggered and told him that I thought the situation was sketchy, not to reach out anymore and blocked and deleted.

We talk a lot here about block / delete but not so much how you feel after - guilty, sad, doubtful. Did I overreact? Am I being avoidant? I know I did the right thing to protect myself and I have a history of hanging around way, way too long until it’s bad and I’m destroyed.

Remind me that I dodged a bullet!
