My husband likes when I’m just there. If he’s playing a video game, I will sit and read. Working on the car, I’ll hang out and act interested in what he’s doing (don’t worry he knows I’m just acting and couldn’t care less about the car)… He says he likes it when I’m just hanging around.

My partner is a big “quality timer” too. Big hits that are wallet friendly have been planning a picnic, walks on nearby trails. We’ve also looked at glassblowing demos, drive in theatres, bowling, Christmas light watching (if you live in Ohio/PA, Oglebay is a MUST), festivals, zoo, etc.

We also have a long standing tradition of calling each other for an hour at the end of the evening daily, but that’s probably overkill for most guys.

All people have their own love language.

In my opinion, it is important to see, hear and understand it, and then the relationship will develop harmoniously.

I finally went and checked out this test, because I keep hearing people talk about it.

I think the basic idea that people send and receive affection on different channels is sound, but I have my doubts about the actual test. It's made of self-report questions, doesn't weight answers, and is probably influenced as much by current state as by personality.

If you have something that you feel is clearly your "love language", run with that. If the quiz tells you something, take it with a grain of salt.
