When my ex and I broke up it took me about a year to be fully over her and I never dated ever within that year (and still haven’t but that’s just cause I’m not looking) but a week after we broke up she was already in another relationship…with one of my best friends.

[–]ABeeBox 23 points24 points25 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Similar shit.

Dated a girl for 3 years, she broke up with me, within 2 weeks she was dating a mutual friend, I went a year without getting into a relationship. I was asked out, but I'd tell them I am not ready for a relationship yet and that I don't want to make anyone a rebound.

When the guy cheated on her twice, and I was doing really, really good for myself (Gym, Got my first choice in University, doing pretty well financially) she came crawling back. I Didn't even hesitate to say no thanks.

[–]SnooPets2522 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You did good not accepting her back

[–]justaguy891 15 points16 points17 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

pretty much same here except thankfully she wasn't cheating on me with my best friend but with some dude i didn't know

[–]pappo4ever 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

but a week after we broke up she was already in another relationship

Women 'check out' of relationships way before the actual breakup, that's why at the end of the relationship she often seem like a different person.

I learned that

I think it's the fact that you meant so little to the other person that their in a new relationship immediately after. That stings.

[–]Rachel794 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Right. It’s usually too soon, like they were more than happy to throw you away

[–]Yoramus 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Also there are feelings around the best friend situation. A friend who cares about your feelings won't date a girl if that makes you feel bad.

The fact that a friend does it means that you also feel betrayed by them. It stings doubly.

And yes we are not speaking of law or of logic, just of sensitivity. I suppose a perfectly strong and laid back guy won't feel hurt but we aren't all like that

[–]illnemesis 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's exacerbated when you share young children. It blows my mind on a daily basis how we have a 2 year old; literally just had a home birth and shared that together. None of it means anything to her, and she's 40.

[–]NBAYOUNGBOY38__4KT 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

You don’t sound rude at all! 😊 but could you retype that I think you put a typo or missed a word in your question. I’ll be happy to answer once I understand it 😂

[–]Rachel794 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Certainly. Which word did I miss though? Lol

[–]NBAYOUNGBOY38__4KT 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

It was “upset” you must’ve edited it after i read it.

Anyways, idk why other people get upset when their ex dates another person or their bsf but from my experience it wasn’t even a week after we had broken up and she was already dating someone else. It gives off the vibe that she just didn’t care about the relationship. I put my all into that relationship and gave her every last bit of energy I had because that’s how I was raised. So it just felt like she didn’t care because it wasn’t even a week and she was dating someone else. It was just to soon you know? Now, idk about other guys but if it was like 2 months or 3 and then she started dating someone new then I would’ve been like “oh okay I’m happy for her” but no it wasn’t even a week. I felt broken and like the relationship meant nothing. I’m not hurt over it anymore cuz it happened when I was 16 (I’m 18 now) but still it’s just to soon and it hurt me really really badly. Now, dating someone’s bsf is like a MAJOR no in my friend group and after they broke up he apologized but the damaged was already done. I haven’t talked to him since. You just don’t do that. You hang out with your bsf and tell them everything and I mean EVERYTHING 😂and then they date your ex and that’s just betrayal. He isn’t part of my friend group anymore (hasn’t been for almost 3 years now) and my other friends resent him and disowned him for what he did. Bottom line you just don’t do that.

[–]Rachel794 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Ohhh now I get it. And I’ve been banned from so many subs on here, I wanted to make sure I was on my best behavior here.

[–]NBAYOUNGBOY38__4KT 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Dude honestly, say what you want on any sub. I just joined this sub to learn more about my rights as a man not get pissed off at a girl asking a question. It’s never that deep for me tbh lol 😂

[–]Rachel794 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Sometimes when I say what I want, I get in trouble with the mods. Lol

[–]EricAllonde[S] 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This sub is very pro-free speech. You won't be banned for saying things that members disagree with.

[–]Rachel794 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Awesome! Wish more subs were like this. Honestly it’s ridiculous how people are permanently banned just because they’re not exactly like the mods or other members.

[–]Affectionate-Rich675 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

For me if an ex goes directly into a relationship directly after we broke up I would just be wondering if the time we spent to together was much...or if I was just that forgetful

[–]Dikki93 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I have no idea why your being down voted for asking this

[–]Rachel794 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It’s ok. I realize now it’s a pretty insensitive and judgmental question

[–]DaLordOfDarkness 21 points22 points23 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I heard of it, and barely anyone give pity to the male.

[–]venom9110 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

It's women who support, validate, and "pity" / show sympathy to other women. Men don't do that when we should. Most of our problems are a result of men not supporting other men. It almost seems inherent that men want less men to be in competition with them, so men make life harder for other men whether it's through a series of laws on a grand scale, or even in the personal arena.

[–]his_purple_majesty 22 points23 points24 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

My breakup from my 10 year long relationship was excruciating. It just destroyed me.

[–]Rhum-runner 45 points46 points47 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I would argue this is true due to men being most likely to be dumped/divorced by their partner.

[–]Oncefa2 22 points23 points24 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah that and the relative difficulty of finding another partner.

Plus men invest a lot more in their relationships, whereas women get invested into, if that makes sense.

Men spend more money and do more to change their lives to accommodate their partners than the reverse. So of course they're going to be more devastated when it doesn't work out.

She can just go find some other man's life to hijack whereas he has to pick up the pieces of his own life that was already molded to her before he can start dating again.

[–]LettuceBeGrateful 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

the relative difficulty of finding another partner

Plus men invest a lot more in their relationships

I also think this is a positive feedback loop. A lot of men these days seem to get emotionally invested in women faster than vice versa because of the difficulty finding a partner.

[–]pentalana 36 points37 points38 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Because women can easily monkey-branch to the next dick to help them get over the previous one.

[–]GreatGrizzly 16 points17 points18 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

And they can do it with little or no repercussion from society.

In a lot of ways it's encouraged.

[+]bob-knows-all -8 points-7 points-6 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

What repercussions should there be for dating someone else after you break up with someone?

[–]mattex456 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ostracism.

And just so you know, we're not talking about "dating someone else after you break up". People specifically mentioned women who jump from dick to dick and break up over petty shit, refusing any commitment.

[–]its_radical96 15 points16 points17 points 4 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

This will always be the fundamental problem with (straight) relationships as a whole in our generation. There’s simply no time to build anything with anyone if women just keep swinging from dick to dick as soon as they find one trait that they don’t particularly like in the man they’re currently with, and that won’t change until they finally realize what they’re doing, and make some kind of effort to stop. Women have been making a mess of everything dating-wise for a long time.

[–]erik-the-first 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And that's exactly what they do. Then women wonder why no one wants them at 30 when they're looks fade and they've been 37 different guys. Feminism tells young women to be selfish and slutty and that exactly what women are doing.

[–]manbro7 26 points27 points28 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You feel responsible for every single thing, even her own bad behaviour. Ur mistake could be a level 10, her reaction and the stress could be level 80. These drove me to break-up. Reflects the research.

Since she could never forgive the way I did, Im pretty certain I was with her cause of love while she was with me for her own self-interests like attention or loneliness. That's why she'll immediately find a new partner for her self interests while I'll have to grieve the whole thing and heal from the stress too

[–]Kettellkorn 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I went through my fair share of breakups. One thing I noticed was how dull and long lasting breakups were for me.

I also remember breaking up with someone incredibly toxic, I removed her being distraught for like a week, and I was distraught for about 9 months.

[–]offtable 14 points15 points16 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Because women break up with you waaaay before it actually happens.

[–]Jonger1150 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is true. I filed divorce from my ex, but I even had a period where I regretted it. Not so much because of her, but I didn't like the idea of losing 50% of my time from the kids. She was mentally prepared for it already and treated me poorly for years due to resentment.

[–]Magical-Hummus 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Considering the amount of effort needed to do pre-relationship and during-relationship it is imaginable.

[–]__pulsar 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No shit. I saw so many guys get heartbroken in high school especially. The trope that women want to settle down but men just want to play the field is completely backwards in most cases.

It makes sense though that women would get over breakups quicker than men. They have other men chasing after them, while men have to do the chasing. Most women (especially attractive ones) have multiple men pursuing them at any given time. When a relationship ends they don't have to seek attention. It comes right to them.

Men have to pick themselves up and put a lot of time and effort into meeting more women. (There are exceptions on both sides, of course.) Many of them end up staying home and stewing for weeks or even months before they finally work up the energy to meet someone else.

And remember, if your girl tells you she wants to see other people or that it's time for a break, 9/10 times she's already moved on to a different guy. Even if she didn't cheat on you physically, she has a guy that she intends to hook up with once you're broken up. Don't waste your time pleading for her to reconsider. She has already moved on and you'll just come off as pathetic. The best thing you can do is remain calm, tell her you agree with the breakup because you don't want to be with someone who doesn't want to be with you, and then try to lead your best life from there.

[–]zobeast26 14 points15 points16 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My theory has always been that woman get hit hardest immediately following the breakup. But they also recover much faster. And tend to have a new partner fairly fast following the breakup. Men on the other hand do progressively worse as time goes by after the breakup. Or at least that’s what I’ve personally experienced.

[–]Intelligent_Set3936 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Im not surprised at all

[–]MarineJP 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My problem with this information is that since each person subjectively approaches their pain it is impossible for a true scale to exist.

[–]Feministsareincels 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Always better to not get into relationships

[–]pappo4ever 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You don't tell. Women recover after days, sometimes after hours. We men take years to recover, if ever.

[+]qianxiaonai -8 points-7 points-6 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

But their pain doesn't count? Ho ho. My 3 year old shows off "but I didn't cry though".

[–]Mother-Key582 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Don’t … even. How would you like it if you were really upset over a breakup and people told you that your feelings were invalid and you had to “man up” just because you were a guy? This happens to guys all the time. Nobody gives a fuck if it’s the guy that gets assaulted by the woman, in a public place. It’s HIM that always gets in trouble.

[–]Dikki93 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not all tbh, its just a question and it's not been worded in an insensitive way.

I would answer the question myself but others have done a much beter job at that.
