This is true and is a good thing to do. I suspect the trans movement to have this in front of the supreme court by November.

Wait, I was told that women were mentally and physically superior to men.

But anyway...

Gov. Kim Reynolds today signed HF 2416 into law protecting girls’ sports programs at all school levels, including high school and collegiate levels in Iowa. The bill allows participation in sports based upon the biological sex listed on the athlete’s birth certificate.

So? Trans-folk can get their birth certificate changed or amended in almost all the states. And Iowa itself will issue a new birth certificate on request.

And of course the same applies to people who move to Iowa from most other states.

I don't think think this law will have the effect the governor thinks it will.

This bill requires schools at all levels to designate sporting events as male, female, or co-ed. Only students who are female according to their birth certificate will be eligible to compete in girls sports. No student will be prevented from playing a sport that matches his or her biological sex, or a sport designated as co-ed.

It's nice to see that the bill is covers both sexes. But unless I'm greatly mistaken, there is no real or perceived problem with trans-men competing with non-trans men. In fact, I don't recall hearing that it's ever happened.

In the 60s the women's liberation movement rallied to get women out of the home and into the workplace to compete with men. They now find that they have no choice but to work outside the home. Are they saying this is unfair (I didn't read the article)?
