I hate when people have to rely on the past to justify their actions in the present. Yes, women used to have it a lot worse, and yes, right now, there's a lot of anti abortion laws being passed (but let's not pretend those aren't in response to abortion being legalized in some states all the way up until birth, which is too extreme, even if "no one is doing it") that are definitely perceived as attacks on women.

The women who spout off this shit didn't experience that kind of oppression first hand. That's not their lived experiences because most internet misandrists live in cushy first world countries where the problems of the past are in the past. You don't get to be an asshole because your ancestors suffered under oppression. The stories of yesteryear of women rising up against the odds are incredible and inspiring, like Joan of Arc who took up a sword to fight for her country despite women not being able to participate in the military, all the women who took over jobs in World War II while their husbands were fighting overseas, Rosa Parks refusing to move to the back of the bus, and so, so many more.

Instead now, in arguably the easiest time to be alive, you have these feminists screeching and crying about the patriarchy, and if you call it out, you're called a pick me girl like that isn't misogynistic seething. It's quite frankly embarrassing. That whole thread is embarrassing. It shouldn't be cool or trendy to hate half the population.

This Sunshineandhotdogs person is a joke, but I would have to agree with one of the commenters in your thread saying that if Reddit wanted to make an end to FDS, they would first have to start with a bunch of porn-centric, deeply misogynistic sites that are out there, that make FDS look like a kids’ site. There’s subs out there fueled with hatred, depravation and despise, all combined with abuse porn, so while I agree FDS is a cancer, it’s also a very mild one. I don't get why people say misandry doesn't kill. I personally know a guy whose wife turned his children against him, stole his house, and accused him of beating her despite him never doing so, and he ended up committing suicide soon after.
