Has anyone ever had experience with long distance joint custody?

Have a child that's 2 so school wouldn't be an issue for now.

I work shitty hours and commute across the province weekly for work. I get usually 2 months of vacation though.

I've been leaning towards just taking my kid in the summer and a holiday. So twice a year. But I've also considered 50/50, like a 4 month swap. But it would involve having my parents watch her 50% of the time while I'm working.

I feel like it'd be a hard life for any child rotating parents 4 months at a time, always swapping homes when they're with me because I work. Traveling across the country.

It always feels like the one who supports everyone, is the one who gives up the most of all in the end.
