Blaming toxic masculinity and the patriarchy is like blaming the boogey man. We don’t live in a patriarchy and masculinity isn’t toxic.

Also, feminists talk about masculinity as if it’s the dark side of the force that has the power to make men do evil things. Masculinity is simply the attributes associated with being male. Attributes don’t have magical powers. Masculinity can’t force men to do anything, it’s not a force, it’s not a physical entity.

It not toxic masculinity. It’s toxic femininity that has groomed boys since the day they are born. I've seen so many people try and define toxic masculinity, but they just describe traditionalism.

So they're either just repeating what they've heard other people say, or are saying:

"It's traditionalism but I like to think it's only men that need to change".

"A woman hitting a man being normalized is rooted in toxic masculinity, not feminism" is such a non-statement. What is this person even trying to say? I guarantee if you asked them to define feminism and toxic masculinity, and probed them a little on some examples of both, you'd discover absolutely nothing of value.

Feminism often actively promotes "believe all women". This is could also be argued part of toxic masculinity as it promotes the idea that women are weak and abused, and that men are so domineering, society has to create special rules to allow women to flourish under the thumb of males.

When you play stupid word games with ill-defined terms you can argue there are many crossovers between feminism and toxic masculinity. Of course there are two types of feminism; the type they pretend they are (egalitarianists) and the type most of them dogmatically fall into ("toxic masculinity" or "women are saints, men are dogs" ~ "feminism")

Honestly even playing this game is a waste of time. It's all semantics.

I would say it's both.

That men allow themselves to get physically abused by women definitly has roots in some fucked up ideas on what it means to be a man.

Some feminists perpetuates this with the "reverse sexism doesn't exist"-argument. Since men have some inherited priviliges (as do women) they "can't" be abused. That is obviously not the case.

What this person does here is a "no true scotsman"-fallacy. Feminism isn't a coherent (is that the right word here?) ideology and it hasn't been for a long time. Some feminists will spew this bullshit and some will not.

They said that girls gitting boys being normalized is toxic masculinity, not that the REASON girls hit boys is bc of that.

The fact its funny when a girl beats up a boy, or when a women cuts off a dick, is bc its subverting the norms that a man is far to strong for a woman to fight. Why do we beileve that a woman cannot be of harm to a man? That is a cultural artifact from waaaaay long ago before feminism existed.

I will happily elaborate if anyone is interesting is understanding the difference
