I live in New Braunfels. I have my 2x girls 7/11 for 2 1/2 weeks in June. We keep plans pretty loose but Here’s what we are thinking so far.

Float the River - Not that far for a day trip. There’s a great spot for shorter (hour-ish) floats in Sattler called “the horse shoe”. This is their first time floating so we gonna start there.

Drive in Movie - there’s a place in New Braunfels near 35. Not sure bout your area.

Arcades - there’s a few retro gaming places around.

Hiking or mountain biking - plenty all around out area.

Glamping- if you aren’t into doing it the hard way

Not sure how old your kids are, but here’s my list so far for my 6yo.

Beach trip (probably more than once)

Low ropes course

Zoo

Theme parks

Museums

Aquarium

Baseball game

Outdoor movies

Pool parties

Road trips. Here’s how I do it:

Create a list of cities you want 1 per night. NYC, LA are the only ones i devote more time to.

Google map the route using add destination for each city.

Then Google (name of city things to do). As long as your logged in click you are able to save places. Their is your loose itinerary.

Go to Google maps. Look up the city. Click hotels. There is a list with prices, and ratings you can book from there.

If you are cost conscious camping grounds and your car are suitable hotel replacements.

Most important have fun! Take pictures and send them to your ex-wife. You know you did well when they give you a one sentence passive aggressive response. Something along the lines of (great trip. etc)

I'm near water, so this year will be scuba and surf lessons. Every year, we also do a camping trip into the mountains. Other than that, a whole LOT of swimming and walking around in parks. Always on the look out for street fairs or crafty things. Today is a 'learn to paint' day at a small cafe and a farmers market near by.

Check for summer activities at your local library. I'm lucky to live in a wealthy area and the local library here is the most extra I've ever seen in my life. They'll have actives involving more than reading.

Fishing, boat rides, tubing, hiking, atv rides, arrowhead hunting, water park, arcade, just bought a 20x60 tarp and staked in down with a lawn sprinkler beside it for a slip and slide.
