I just checked the claim that they "asked both men and women their views"......NINETY ONE PERCENT OF THE PEOPLE THEY ASKED WERE WOMEN(!!!!)

And their definition of "abuse" includes "unwanted attention", "feeling unsafe when jogging at night", "unsolicited online comments" in response to social media posts, and all kinds of other things....

Many U.S. colleges offer this training and I’ve personally been to a few condensed training versions of it. It’s all predicated on the idea most men are constantly waiting for the opportunity to sexually assault women, and the few good men must be attentive and willing to intervene.

Beyond the intervention however, it’s indoctrinating new students into patriarchy theory. Young men are told they are part of the collective that oppressed women and therefore they owe women. If a woman wants to speak, men had better shut up and listen, because in our man’s world women generally aren’t allowed to speak.

As reflected in the article, it encourages students to view any innocent thing as misogyny, which again is used to guilt males into being submissive to females. Young men are essentially told that because they are responsible for oppressing women, it’s their role to protect and serve women.

I think it’s really disgusting that education is being used to push such gender agenda.

Crime, including crime against women has decreased since the 80s & 90s, yet women are taught to be more afraid. Such scaremongering isn’t helpful to women either.

I'm trying to think of circumstances in my life when I'd even have had an opportunity to do that.

Possibly it's because I'm the very antithesis of the hypermasculine stereotype - I'm a tall, skinny nerd who never had a huge interest in chasing women as a younger guy. As such most of the people I associate with are of vaguely similar temperament. Perhaps we're the least likely men to behave unpleasantly toward women in the way that this article vaguely implies (and it is vague, giving no examples).

Even so, I've worked in ten countries and run departments of up to about ten people at all levels of experience and seniority, and I can think of exactly two incidents in my adult life where I felt people were being outspokenly and directly unpleasant about women. Two, ever. And in neither case was I really able to do much about it, being in a junior position. Even if you accept the sort of implied, unspoken, perhaps unconscious biases that hardline feminism like to claim are endemic it's just not something that comes up very much in my experience. Most men simply won't have any opportunity to put this training into practice.

The dangerous thought is that a lot of these people have been radicalised into seeing things that aren't there. The problem is that in that situation no matter how hard we try, we can't solve a problem that barely exists, or at least doesn't exist in the way people seem to think it does. That's the sort of unscratchable itch that leads to an endless spiral of radicalisation and extremism and that's not ultimately helpful to anyone; it doesn't seem to make them very happy either.

It seems almost unfair to point this out as it's such a soft target, but the opposite is not true. Women's rights activists constantly publish direct and outspoken attacks on men, including explicitly encouraging violence. In this subreddit alone we've seen three (edit: four! 1, 2, 3, 4) books mentioned in the last twenty-four hours which have no purpose but to unequivocally encourage women to abuse, lie about, and even assault and murder men as for no reason other than to punish men for being men. This is done with the full support of large organisations including governments, even though it is often against their rules, including national laws.

Even if you are one of the people who manages to conclude this is somehow justified you must be logically aware that it is not going to make you any friends.
