It's not enough to cancel male only conscription.

People still think that shaming of men who were 'draft dogers' is okay even when the coscription is removed. It's not okay. Men who evaded male-only recruitment in the past should be officially rehabilitated. They were not cowards, but the govermental sturctures were discriminators of them.

[–]Razorbladekandyfan[S] 51 points52 points53 points 4 years ago* (10 children) | Copy Link

I completely agree about the rehabilitation. But how can we achieve that when we cant even get politicians to stop drafting only men in the first place.

[+]Time-Inevitable-3334 -25 points-24 points-23 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

IMO your focus should be on stopping drafts altogether, not wasting energy for them to also include women.

[–]Razorbladekandyfan[S] 38 points39 points40 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Its not ALWAYS possible to stop drafts altogether. The number one goal is stopping MALE ONLY drafts. How is that not sinking in?

[+]Time-Inevitable-3334 -26 points-25 points-24 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

I understand the goal, it was literally the second part of my sentence.

Why do you feel that incorporating women is the path of least resistance, vs removing drafts altogether?

[–]Razorbladekandyfan[S] 25 points26 points27 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Because as i said sometimes its inevitable that you have to draft. The point is that its never ok to make it a sex specific draft.

[+]Time-Inevitable-3334 -22 points-21 points-20 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

And my opinion is that you (or people in general) should be focusing your efforts to ensure that drafts are not inevitable (ie, a constitutional amendment outlawing them), as opposed to ensuring they include both sexes.

[–]Razorbladekandyfan[S] 15 points16 points17 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

That WOULD be good, but remember SCOTUS said conscription is legal, I can't even imagine how such a courtcase would come to the USSC and how they would rule its unconstitutional to draft people. But by all means, if you are a legal genius im all ears.

[–]Time-Inevitable-3334 -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

And all male conscription is legal also.

My point is, the better fight is to stop it from happening in the first place; not ensuring its enacted equally.

Edit: Maybe i'm just naïve, I just don't understand the focus on making something shitty even shittier just for the sake of equality, as opposed to spending all your energy getting rid of the shitty thing.

(And by "you", I dont mean you personally)

[–]TextDependent6779 16 points17 points18 points 4 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

my perspective comes from the way its not neccasarily possible to ban drafts. in a perfect world there would be no war.

but you're not stupid, and im not stupid, im not going to insult your intelligence. you know this isn't a perfect world. you know there's going to be war.

the question is, if voluntary forces are losing a war, what do you do? do you let all the citizens free and risk becoming enslaved by your opposition, who may be the person who is causing wars? or do you conscript them to fight, defend your nation's beliefs, and try to stop the warmongerer?

and, there's just no easy answer to that. im still trying to figure it out myself. there's positives and negatives to both sides. i personally fall more for abolishing the draft, but its far from a black and white issue.

abolishment or gender-neutral. it's the only way.

[–]SporkTornado 17 points18 points19 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The only time society cares about men's problems. Is when those problems start to spill over and effect women. Expanding the draft to include women, is the fastest way to get it abolished.

[+]Time-Inevitable-3334 -12 points-11 points-10 points 4 years ago* (13 children) | Copy Link

I don't get the knee jerk reaction by most people of "why not women also?"

Conscription in general should be banned, not modified to incorporate women.

All-volunteer armies are the best in the world.

[–]TheSpaceDuck 21 points22 points23 points 4 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Just look at Ukraine. Does their draft look optional to you? If people want to stop the draft entirely sure, more power to them, but even if that is done, it should still be stipulated in the law that it must be gender-neutral.

Because the moment a war happens when there's not enough manpower, an "emergency draft" will still happen regardless. And when it does, guess who will once again be dying because of their genitals.

Saying "we should stop the draft instead" is like saying "we should stop war instead". It's not an argument, it's a Nirvana fallacy that only serves to protect the status quo.

[–]Razorbladekandyfan[S] 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Thank you!

[–]ohisama 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Has anyone heard any objections to the use of the word man in manpower? Looks like conveniently the woman power doesn't cover this scenario.

[–]Time-Inevitable-3334 -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Ukrain's conscripts are built into their law, and have been for decades, which is exactly what I am saying that you should be focusing your energy towards.

Calling the pushback against conscription a "Nirvana fallacy", spits in the face of events like the Conscription Crisis of 1944.

Those protesters successfully limited the role conscriptions played in the war, resulting in only 69 front line conscription deaths. If you ask me, them pushing back against conscription as a whole, as opposed to focusing their efforts on ensuring women were included, was a MUCH better use of their time.

There are literally 4 threads going on this topic in this sub as we speak, and nobody is talking about the practice as a whole; its all "but women too!", and I just can't wrap my head around that.

[–]Bike_Of_Doom 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago [recovered] (3 children) | Copy Link

Citing that time when Quebec threw a fit and didn’t want to go help win the war against one of the worst regimes in the history of the earth that were actively conducting a genocide because the province was riddled with antisemitic, Vichy France supporters isn’t exactly a good thing.

That conscription crisis should be the eternal shame of Quebec, not something to celebrate. Not only were they not willing to voluntarily fight the Nazis, but they wouldn’t even be forced into fighting them. That’s a disgrace, not a triumph. It was backed by supporters of the nazi puppet state, antisemitic attacks on the Jews for the war itself, resettlement of holocaust victims in Canada, dislike of the rest of Canada, and actively hurt Canada's ability to fight the war.

It also only succeeded because Mackenzie King was a fucking appeasing coward who didn’t want to get involved in a war in the first place. Any prime minister who truly actually cares about his army would have sent them over years earlier. He literally handled conscription so poorly that the Canadian army was in plagued by the lack of men in the army and resulting in even more deaths as the wounded and untrained had to be deployed at the same time while the cowards remained safe back in Canada.

[–]Time-Inevitable-3334 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Claiming Quebec threw a fit and didn't want to help, when over 20% of Canada's volunteer fighting force in WW2 were French Quebecers, is another slap in the face of actual history. Yes Quebec was the largest voice against conscription, but that literally has no baring on this discussing; they were against it, and their pressure campaign largely worked.

All you did in your post was list reasons why their pressure campaign worked.

My point is, its defeatist and against your own interest to not be fighting against conscription as a whole, when history has absolutely shown that it could work.

[–]Bike_Of_Doom 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

Sorry, I should have said Quebec political elites threw a fit and sold it to the public on the other anti-Semitic grounds. That’s why I called them Vichy French supporters because that’s what a lot of the political sentiment at the top was. It was badly worded on my part and you’re right that many quebecois did actively contribute to the fight against the Nazis.

I still think you’re overstating how likely it was that conscription can be overturned through attacks by looking at the crisis. It seems like it wouldn’t have worked with any other leader or if the war was on our doorsteps given that the original law allowed for conscription for the defence of Canada’s borders. Only in limited areas in hostile populations with prior conscription resistance did it kinda work.

[–]Time-Inevitable-3334 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't mean to give off the impression that I think it would be easy; I just don't see the usefulness of 4 threads and thousands of comments getting mad that women are not included, as opposed to putting that same effort to ensure that conscription is a thing of the past.

Like I wrote in another post, if any modern western/NATO country is on the verge of a total military defeat and about to be taken over, then all bets are off....whether women are conscripted or not, will be the least of anyone's concerns, especially for the women in said country...
Vietnam, for example, did not need a draft, yet there was one. That is generally what I am referring to.

[–]TheSpaceDuck 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

And suppose a country is invaded by a stronger military power and conscription is not built into the law. What do you think they'll do? Surrender? This is exactly what I was trying to tell you:

the moment a war happens when there's not enough manpower, an "emergency draft" will still happen regardless.

If you really care about ending conscription and aren't just concern trolling, then there's no reason to not make the draft gender-neutral, as it doesn't stop the cause of ending the draft in any way (quite the oppose, it contributes a lot to it, since women's lives are valued more tham men's). So you should be all for it.

Instead you're pulling an argument equivalent to "I'm against banning female genital mutilation because we should be banning all genital mutilation instead". Needless to say, doesn't look like it's done in good faith.

[–]Time-Inevitable-3334 -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

You should have a look at my post above.

I'll copy it here for ease:

I don't mean to give off the impression that I think it would be easy; I just don't see the usefulness of 4 threads and thousands of comments getting mad that women are not included, as opposed to putting that same effort to ensure that conscription is a thing of the past.

Like I wrote in another post, if any modern western/NATO country is on the verge of a total military defeat and about to be taken over, then all bets are off....whether women are conscripted or not, will be the least of anyone's concerns, especially for the women in said country...

The Vietnam war, for example, did not need a draft, (the US was not on the verge of collapse, therefore doesn't even meet your own standard why they are inevitable) yet there was one. That is generally what I am referring to.

[–]TheSpaceDuck 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I don't know why you keep shifting the goalposts into wars of aggression happening abroad, like Vietnam.

Many wars are not like that, and those are even more likely to have a draft. In fact, the whole reason why Latvia is implementing one is the threat of Russian invasion. The war in Ukraine right now? Another draft that was inevitable. Unless you think it'd be better if they just surrendered and let Russia indiscriminately murder civilians and take them to concentration camps.

Whether "not all drafts are necessary" or not doesn't change the fact that some unfortunately are, and when they happens unless the draft is stipulated to be gender-neutral, men are once again going to be sent to die just because they are men. If you don't see anything wrong with that...

[–]Time-Inevitable-3334 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

No goal posts have shifted.

This is sort of going around in circles

I've provided examples of anti conscription campaigns limiting conscription deaths in wars, which proves that the energy was better spent (as opposed to trying to have women come along), which also proves your Nirvana fallacy claim as a straw man.

It's my opinion that the energy is better served getting conscription abolished.

[–]TheSpaceDuck 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Man, you're the one making a strawman.

I said "it's impossible to not have a draft entirely". Meanwhile you say "you're wrong, some drafts are avoidable". Answering a totally different argument altogether and pretending you answered mine. At this point I have to believe you're doing this in bad faith.

So let me sum up one last time clearly and in a way that even a 5 year old would understand:

1 - Some drafts are avoidable. Many are not. If the draft law is not gender-neutral, men will still be sent to die on those because they are men. Do you have any good argument justifying that?

2 - You keep implying that opposing the male-only draft is mutually exclusive with opposing draft in general. It's the "don't ban female genital mutilation, we should ban all genital mutilation instead" argument again.

As I have already told you, a gender-neutral draft would also make drafts very less likely to happen since women's lives are valued a lot more. So the fact that you claim to be "against the draft" and yet oppose such measures means you were just concern trolling.

[–]Razorbladekandyfan[S] 84 points85 points86 points 4 years ago (29 children) | Copy Link

To join the state defence service, a Latvian citizen – man – must be 18 to 27 years of age. Women will be able to sign up voluntarily.

Any reason this is not made gender neutral?

[–]skyofgrit 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

27 is so young lmao. what’s with the cut off. Is it because young soldiers don’t think as much so they’re better cannon fodder?

[–]Razorbladekandyfan[S] 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

if its too long it will be too unacceptable to people i think.

[–]DKS6 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Easier to indoctrinate with the fighting spirit. Younger will likely make recruits easier to train, especially where taking orders and executing them in split seconds counts.

[–]Monster3gamez 20 points21 points22 points 4 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

I guess by the threat they want real warriors? Idk some countries are old school and traditional

[–]Razorbladekandyfan[S] 41 points42 points43 points 4 years ago* (7 children) | Copy Link

Latvia is not traditional, its feminist. Also women can be conscripted in other roles if they make SUCH bad warriors. (even though they dont)

[–]InvestingBig 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Also women can be conscripted in other roles

That's not okay either. That just means women get the safe roles and now men are guaranteed to get the unsafe roles. Women also need to serve in dangerous situations.

[–]mixing_saws 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yup, guns made killing other people equally easy

[–]SvitlanaLeo 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

What is feminism? There were four waves of it... I don't think that feminists of the 1st wave would support the feminists of the 4th wave. The conservative Boris Johnson uses the term toxic masculinity, and conservative Dominic Raab doesn't know the word misandry. The modern conservatism is linked to old (and not very old) feminism.

[–]Razorbladekandyfan[S] 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Dominic Raab

Didnt Raab talk about mens issues last IMD? You would think he would know the word misandry..

[–]SvitlanaLeo 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

oh god.... absolutely hopeless.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/jun/29/boris-johnson-claims-putin-would-not-have-invaded-ukraine-if-he-was-a-woman

Boris Johnson has claimed that Vladimir Putin would not have invaded Ukraine if he was a woman and believes that the war is a “perfect example of toxic masculinity”.

This is funny, because historically women were more likely to start wars than men.

[–]Monster3gamez 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

[–]GnomeChompy 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

But also I want nukings as much as everyone else. (Aka I don't)

It was actually stated that they don’t have enough money to ensure training for all 18-27 year olds so they only made it mandatory for half lol. But they are planning on adding women later on as well. I personally think that the whole idea sucks and neither should go Through it but Oh well…

[+]cantseeme12 -25 points-24 points-23 points 4 years ago [recovered] (4 children) | Copy Link

Because for all of human history men decided only men can go to war. It’s really not that hard of a concept to understand. Calling something created by men, for men, and then to be used by men discriminatory makes you look uneducated and pathetic.

Thanks for admitting that the minuscule number of men in power don't actually further the interests of ordinary men. Thanks also for acknowledging that we don't live in a patriarchy, i.e. "a social system in which power is held by men, through cultural norms and customs that favor men and withhold opportunity from women" (italics mine).

[–]Grow_peace_in_Bedlam 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Also, FGM is done almost exclusively to women and girls by other women. Would you accept that that's not discriminatory according to your logic?

Yes. They want to defend their country.

[–]Razorbladekandyfan[S] 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Why does that mean women shouldnt do it?

[+]nikgtasa -10 points-9 points-8 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Not if you want results. Obviously their government wants men to do it because they'll give better results overall. And no one will bat an eye over men only conscription.

Ukrainian here.

We are not misandrist. We are under attack by an outnumbering enemy, so we need people fighting, working and such.

And, by the way, we have female mobilization too. It starts from the 1st of August this year. So it is pretty equal within a common sence.

Women, in most cases, are physically weaker, so they mostly will get to work in military idustry, be combat medics and such. Those, who pass standarts of combat will serve in army.

So, please, do not pile up us with Russia and Belarus, okay? It is, regarding current circumstances, very offending.

[–]SvitlanaLeo 61 points62 points63 points 4 years ago* (7 children) | Copy Link

Zelenskyy banned men from leaving Ukraine. It's violation of Article 24 of the Constitution of Ukraine: There shall be no privileges or restrictions based on race, colour of skin, political, religious and other beliefs, sex, ethnic and social origin, property status, place of residence, linguistic or other characteristics.

Any questions?

В Україні законодавство передбачає взяття на військовий облік жінок, які мають спеціальність та/або професію, споріднену з військово-обліковою спеціальністю з переліку Міноборони, і придатні до проходження військової служби за станом здоров'я і віком.

So, it's not about equal military conscription for physically strong and healthy men and women.
And none of Ukrainian women banned from leaving Ukraine. Men are banned. They even can't leave their country during war. Bucha's male civilians couldn't leave their contry.

[+]RandomofEmbers -22 points-21 points-20 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Meh. We have an overflow of volunteers now.like 15 contract places and 450 applicants. They take mostly military professionals now.

Heck, even I was denied, saying there are too much paramedics now.

Bucha is not a country, and that was initial assault. Gunfights on the streets of capital city.

Right now we need reserve for counterattack, and need to know how many people able to be this reserve we can mobilize.

Seriously, you make too much ado about leaving ban. It mostly creates problems for sailors and alike.

[–]Fearless-File-3625 25 points26 points27 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

All that is fine but that doesn't change the fact that MEN and ONLY MEN are denied refugee the Ukraine for NO other REASON than because they were BORN male.

THAT IS THE EPITOME OF DISCRIMINATION.

[+]RandomofEmbers -18 points-17 points-16 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There is also such a thing in laws as Military State, wich is a type of Emergency State, wich allows you in case of emergency to hold up temporary part of citizens rights it it is needed to solve the emergency.

Less russian propaganda,more law.

Also,it excludes men under 18, and above 60, single fathers, fathers of two or more children, husbands with pregnant wifes, single caretakers of elderly or disabled and huge other list of exceprions.

[–]Razorbladekandyfan[S] 17 points18 points19 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Where is the female mobilization. Show us the law please.

Here you go.

I suggest you use Google translate.

[–]Razorbladekandyfan[S] 23 points24 points25 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

This just says they will be registering for potential service. Not that they will be conscripted.

[–]RandomofEmbers 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Your Google translate is fucked up. As it alvays does with Cyrillic slavic languages.

They mostly won't serve they will work instead of guys who serve. Because they, you know. Weaker physically on average.

Though medics and such are drafted regardless of sex anyway.

[–]SvitlanaLeo 16 points17 points18 points 4 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

I know Ukrainian good enough to understand what means "Тож станом на теперішній час діючим законодавством України не запроваджено обов'язкового призову жінок по мобілізації."

So, there is no legal female compulsory conscription in Ukraine. Не треба тут брехати.

[–]RandomofEmbers 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Окей. Якщо такій розумний, чо не в армії?

[–]Razorbladekandyfan[S] 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Thank you. I just read a message that they will not be drafting women in the coming months but lets see if this text suggests otherwise.

And, by the way, we have female mobilization too.

Not before 5 million women and children left the country. You can claim to be equal, but the truth is that a quarter of Ukrainian women already left.

[–]SomeonePleaseKillMe1 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

so we need people fighting, working and such.

Fight your own battles. You want to die for government owned land or revenge than all the power to you, but don't drag other people into your suicidal ideals just because they were born with a dick. The worst part of war is the loss of life, not maps and governments changing.

How cowardly to sentence innocent men to die just so you feel better about your own perceived disposability, especially when the odds of beating a superpower like Russia are bleak at best.

Ive got a question, I'm latvian but i was born and have lived all my life in a different EU country. Can latvia force me to go to latvia to be conscripted?

Is it time to ask for a passport from the country i live in lul? I just wanna be left alone

[–]blrfn231 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This is bs. Do not give advice on stuff you are ignorant about. a person who was born outside the country in question for draft cannot be drafted by said country based on the fact that the person has the citizenship of another country. Citizens with double citizenship have the privilege of choice.

[–]blrfn231 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

NO. Apparently you were born in a different country and have it´s citizenship. With that latvia cannot draft you because you are the citizen of another country. I´m in the same boat.

[–]Sweaty-Landscape1112 21 points22 points23 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

There is some hope. People on the latvia subreddit are against it. Espexially it being małe only unlike finland

[–]real_rev 13 points14 points15 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Unlike Finland??? You mean like Finland, since Finland has male only conscription.

[–]Razorbladekandyfan[S] 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I think they meant "like" Finland.

[–]lamppu2 13 points14 points15 points 4 years ago [recovered] (3 children) | Copy Link

I live in finland and its completely shit, atleast the actual millitary training is the same for men and women but i hate the fact that we have a feminist bitch of a prime minister who ignores the issue completely while virtue signalling minor inconveniences

[–]Razorbladekandyfan[S] 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

When IS she gonna address this? Has she even served in the military? I know some people were SUPER pissed that Trump wasnt drafted in Vietnam. So ... not to be sexist, did your Prime Minister serve in the military?

[–]lamppu2 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

I dont think she did

[–]Razorbladekandyfan[S] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Of course she didn't .

[–]TheSoviet_Onion 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Unlike Finland? What have you been smoking? Finland is the worst of both worlds (like Latvia) with mandatory service for men an cherry pick voluntary service for women who then get to try an s become NCOs and COs so they can order around men who were forced to serve

[–][deleted] 17 points18 points19 points 4 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

Latvia has a freedom of movement inside the EU. Literally everyone who cares should simply leave the country and go elsewhere in Europe and see how it works out for Latvia.

If a country is going to sell you out... just sell out your country.....

[–]Razorbladekandyfan[S] 20 points21 points22 points 4 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Depends. They can literally ban the male citizens from leaving. So thats not a solution.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Can't under EU human rights laws.

[–]Razorbladekandyfan[S] 19 points20 points21 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Cyprus is in the EU and they ban men from leaving the country before doing their service. So clearly it can be done.

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points17 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yes. Which is a violation of the EU human rights for freedom of movement.

This sort of shit happens all the time in EU courts but the EU as a whole doesn't really do anything about it and turns a blind eye to things becuase it has double standards.

eg take this as an example https://cyprus-mail.com/2022/07/05/eu-human-rights-court-says-cyprus-violated-freedom-of-expression-rules-against-droushiotis/

We have seen this during covid as well eg mandatory vaccinations in places like Austria and other EU countries.

This makes the entire EU foundations of its basic laws broken by design and implementation. This makes all rights and law basically useless on the paper they are written on.

Thats part of the problem with a draft. What do you do when the person refuses to "do anything" you have to arrest and jail them for "in action" thats breaches all human rights laws around the world. Its effectivly a gulag at that point.

In which case the residing goverments need reminded who works for who again... eg the goverment body needs collapsed.

[–]Razorbladekandyfan[S] 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But its been like that for decades. Nothing suggests that this wont happen in Latvia.

[–]Fearless-File-3625 14 points15 points16 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

EU's human rights laws are a fucking joke. They are rarely upheld when the victims are primarily men.

[–]Big_Counter5622 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Jailing men for avoiding conscription is against human rights but it's still done in Finland and no one cares.

[–]GnomeChompy 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Men should do a walk out.

[–]RatDontPanic 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Depending on how determined they are to leave, this can end very poorly for Latvia.

[–]Razorbladekandyfan[S] 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Maybe if they leave earlier. I hope they do actually.

[–]RatDontPanic 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Nothing ends well when large numbers of men leave a society. So much for "kill all men" lol

[–]Razorbladekandyfan[S] 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I mean what are they supposed to do?

[–]RatDontPanic 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Revolt. But leaving the country and letting it fall apart will suffice.

[–]oceansarevast 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Here another eu slave, governments get around this by refusing you an ID or passport. Then your host country asks you to leave till all is settled and before you know you are in a clown suit aka uniform...ready to be fed to guns in some political ponzi scheme. The EU is just a super feudal system.

[–]ForgotOldAcc-_- 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago* (21 children) | Copy Link

Time to identify as a woman I guess.

Edit: this is a joke. Most countries don't rlly care about ur sexual orientation. If ur a man ur a man and that means u get drafted.

[–]Razorbladekandyfan[S] 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

They probably will draft transwomen too.

[–]ForgotOldAcc-_- 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

I know. It was kind of sarcastic. They are still man no matter the sexual orientation

[–]Razorbladekandyfan[S] 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Being trans is a gender identity not a sexual orientation.

[–]ForgotOldAcc-_- -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Just because u anmelden it differently doesn't change it do. Why isn't it a sexual orientation?

[–]Razorbladekandyfan[S] 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Sexual orientation is who you like, gender identity is how you identify.

[–]ForgotOldAcc-_- -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

But both is about how u fuck

[–]Razorbladekandyfan[S] 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

No. Only one is.

[–]ForgotOldAcc-_- -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

How?

[–]GnomeChompy 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Identity: One wants sex AS penis or vagina holder.

Sexuality: The other wants sex WITH penis or vagina holder.

[–]GnomeChompy 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if you have "male" as your legal sex, the government most likely won't care. Thats what the Ukraine did to their trans women.

Although that does make me wonder what countries with a "third sex" option would do to that demographic should conscription happen.

[–]elpoyolocho 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

From what I've read in Canada you can legally change your gender. That was my plan in case of a draft so I hope it works otherwise I need acting classes to pretend I'm insane for my plan B

[–]GnomeChompy 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Many places allow it, not just Canada haha. And while war IS a real fear, I can't honestly suggest you emigrate to Canada for that reason alone. However, a get away plan seems like a must in this day and age.

Funnily enough I'm a Canadian, and I've personally decided that the only way my government gets my help should they draft is if its gender neutral. If not, they are free to draft my cold, dead body.

[–]elpoyolocho 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I'm already in Canada too haha 🙂 I agree that I would probably do it if it was gender neutral

But for now, back to acting classes

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Dude, you are confusing orientation with gender. Countries do care about sexual orientation. Being gay leads to disciplinary proceedings in many armies.

My Ukrainian girlfriend is against me to go to war in her country because she can't find any good men out there except if they go out for war then the good men will be dead. That's the reason why she wants me to stay in America so that I can pick her up from Poland. It makes sense now.
