Maybe the contrast between clothing and attitude also plays a role. Most guys that wear sweatpants casually aren't high earners, so there's a subconscious link between mediocrity and wearing sweatpants. If you are good looking, have good body language, and are accustomed to wearing suits, I can imagine you might wear sweatpants like you might wear a 1000 dollar suit. This contrast between what's expected (sweatpants --> mediocre guy) and how you shatter these expectations could be part of the reason for your success.

I think it is similar to a hot girl pairing up with a fat girl, except you are the confident guy pairing up with the loser. Having people compare you with somebody that's average or below average when there's a vast gap increases your perceived value above your actual value.
