[Meta] Maintaining quality in the Red Pill community as we grow

These were two posts in TRP subreddit today:

"I fight this as much as possible. I remind myself that, as much as they love to pick a fight, I basically agree with most of what feminists profess. If you're sex positive, support free will, hate creeps (in cases of actual sexual assault, which does sometimes happen), and basically think women (as much as men) should have every right to do anything they think will make them happy so long as they aren't hurting others, then you have a lot of common ground with feminists."

"Maybe I'm dumb as shit, but I thought feminism was just the idea of equal treatment for women. That's fine by me."

The problem with that subreddit is that it gets larger it's gradually being diluted with MRA's and millennials eager to let everyone know how much they support "equality". When in truth, Men and Women have fundamentally different biologies and therefore have different preferences when it comes to their careers, mate selection, child caregiving, etc (We see this play out in the supposed gender "wage gap" debate).

I agree with you that we don't want to dilute the original idea and I think the best way to do that is by emphasizing continued red-pill oriented research or affiliated blogs (i.e., Roissy and Roosh). We can't let these eager-to-please types try to change the fundamental character of the community because they just want to be liked by everyone and therefore have placating ideologies.

I'd be in for draconian censorship a la ask historians (if it's shit, it goes, period) and probably less popular to close the subreddit to the public for awhile, but that's me.

I think part of the solution is to be outspoken against messages that sound good but carry no weight. You know which I speak of. The feel-good bullshit about TRP only being about self-improvement, denying any harsh truths about women, and worst out of all of them, the emergence of "I'm going to find myself a unicorn!" bullshit being touted as TRP's goal. Aside from that, nothing short of heavy censorship will keep the message on point, I'm afraid.

Incidentally, I've noticed that when I say things that speak kindly of women I tend to get a lot more upvotes. I think there are a lot of BP'ers and women lurking around the main sub now.

Most of the TRP posts are about bashing feminists and laughing about bluepillers. Add a huge circle jerk to it, bragging and a lot of wannabe alpha profanity.

Originally TRP was about becoming a better (or should I say real) man. Change yourself so that you become more successful in your life.

Frankly, the only way to keep the quality high is to ban and delete all the shitposts, like they do at e.g. /r/askhistorians. Even /r/askwomen ban unwanted content. In TRP everyone can blurt out their brainfarts.

Speaking of trp specifically.

Add more mods. You can't throw out all the trash when one or no mods are online at any one time.
Delete garbage replies that add no value like "great post".
We have to figure out to what degree is simply conversing beneficial for newbies. If it is beneficial, then we simply remove the really shit replies like "great post" or "I like that".

If it isn't beneficial then we put out a sticky stating that people should focus on adding value to the conversation instead of simply conversing, and remove comments like the following ones:

Comments like this are a complete time sink for people that have absorbed even a minimal portion of the red pill.

The demographics have changed. I know what I see with my two eyes, and I couldn't care less what someone else tells me they see. It is beyond a reasonable doubt that the demographics have changed. Users are considerably less experienced than they were before. This isn't rose colored glasses territory. Some of the responses to the posts that I make and pms I get evidence my claims.

We either accept it, allow the bullshit through, and publicize that trp is for noobs, or we delete and ban the garbage until we have a good minimum level of effort/value from each post.

No easy questions. If someone asks a question that could have been answered by a simple search, give that person a warning. We are not a service that is summoned to a noob's request.

This is a worthwhile concern. I have deep ruth for these deluded individuals. TRP stands as a lone lighthouse to guide them from the rocks of misery - keeping that light bright for our ideological posterity is of the utmost importance.

My suggestion, and this isn't ideal, would be for stricter modding and censure. Yes, censure is a severe measure. Ideally the community would be strong enough to self police by countervailing any nonsense but it appears the community has grown faster than the individuals that make it up and as a result short-term austerity may be warranted.

It's the fate of every group that grows, and more so one like rp which is gaining such a fast momentum.

Every new person brings their own ideosincrysy and interpretation of what rp is. This by itself is not a bad thing, but when they try to adjust the reality of the rp to their own ideologies (like the bs that men and women are equal) it destroys one of the most basic understandings of the ideology.

The most clear example is that most people in the main sub have zero understanding of AWALT.

Censorship and education of the new members could deter the decline of the sub.

Updating the side bar, stating clearly that any new member should read it deeply before even commenting.

My vote is to stop mentioning every time we are talked about elsewhere for 2 reasons: 1. All publicity is good publicity; and 2. A lion doesn't concern himself with the thoughts of sheep. The quotation gets posted regularly to the same threads about others talking about us again.

Is there a way to objectively measure how the red pill online community has changed?

If you were so inclined, you could rig a bot to go through all the posts and comments to calculate a bunch of metrics (# of spelling errors, avg length of comments, % content of reddit-ese words, etc.) to give you a good idea of how the quality has changed. The beter question to ask here, though, is "What's the point?"

If the quality of the message is declining, what can be done to maintain it as we grow?

This is a tough one, because the main draw of TRP for a lot of guys is that it solves their "why am I not getting laid and how do I fix that" problem.

In addition to the general watering down that occurs when the user base of any subreddit grows, my theory is that once the users who could become/are good contributors apply TRP theory and begin getting laid consistently, their use for TRP vanishes, and they leave the community to focus on other pursuits. I know my participation rate went way down once I started getting my dick wet on the regular.

In other words, the guys who "get it" leave, and the idiots stick around.

If the quality of the message is declining, what can be done to maintain it as we grow?

I would consider the following:

The 'center' of any group or demographic will be determined by its end-members
End-members are influenced by the kind of language and topics that are encouraged or discouraged
Actively policing the end-members - both by mods AND community members - will indirectly help define the center
A codified list of principles - a 'constitution', if you will - brings clarity to the process of policing
Increased membership leads to dilution, but dilution is only bad for a group if the end-members are not controlled; otherwise dilution will create debate and nuance in the center, which will progress the ideas of the group
