I can tell this relationship is headed nowhere so I need to plan the proper steps to get this divorce started. In TX, with kids and stay at home spouse of 15 years.

So break the game plan down for me. I heard step one is either finding a divorce lawyer or mediator. Which one should I seek first or do I have to do both? How did you go about locating and filtering out which lawyer to choose?

Did you announce that you were filing or looking for a lawyer to your STBX or did you research and choose your pick first, including any preliminary sessions to get a jump on the situation?

I'm hoping for no alimony in TX, hopefully this is reasonable. I know CS is in the cards for me as well as splitting half our assets.

How long does the divorce process take on average. I don't know if I've already crossed some magical time-line at 15 years as far as me being further indetted to her financially as I would likely be at 20 years.
