Hi all! This group has been so helpful before, I thought I would come here for some advice.

I am the only manager in a company within a male dominated field. I get along great with all the staff and I have a good relationship with all of them. Recently, one of our supervisors has been having time off for reasons that weren't disclosed to me. My boss eventually told me that he was struggling with depression and that is why he has been absent. The man in question is a great work friend and aside from me having a duty of care as a manager, I also care about him on a personal level. We talk about our personal lives and have great banter, however I have remained ignorant to his situation as I feel if he wanted me to know he would tell me.

So my question is, am I doing the right thing in not addressing this and continuing to feign ignorance, or should I approach him to offer support? I dont want him to feel uncomfortable and feel like I should let him come to me if he chooses to.
