It's not the fact that women (or "a" woman) say this... it's the fact that this has FIFTY THOUSAND LIKES.

Call me pathetic, but this genuinely freaking hurts my soul to see that so many women have such contempt, fear & hatred for men. Like, wtf is happening to our society that these types of statements aren't just accepted, but common & even CELEBRATED??

Again, if it was just one comment in the wind, then who cares right? It's not like there aren't countless idiot men saying the dumbest shit about women. But the thing is, they get ZERO attention & are usually immediately called out & shamed.

I don't think women have any clue how much emotional damage that does to (young) men.

I've been physically scarred by women. Kicked so fucking hard in the balls "just for fun" that I was spasming on the floor for several mintues. I've been sexually assaulted by women. Etc etc.

I really don't give a shit about any of that, and I got over these things after two seconds because it's very easy for me to write these things off as actions by "individual" women. So I just don't care.

But THIS??? This is a mindset that I recognize in soooooo many women & it hurts me more than any of the things I just mentioned.

I think it's depressing that feminists lecture & berate men by saying "misandry is just a bit uncomfortable for men. It just hurts their feelings, WHILE MISOGYNY KILLS & ABUSES WOMEN!!!!"

Like, I've been physically hurt & sexually assaulted by women, several times (and I honestly doubt that any of these whiny feminists who have ever been physically touched by a man experienced even 1% of the pain women have inflicted upon me), yet I can tell you right now, this shit here (that post) hurts me(n) more than being punched. It seriously messes with my mental health. And this is coming from a guy who scores single digits on neuroticism. Like, imagine how fucking HORRIBLE society has gotten when even ppl like me who are naturally very stoic are frightened & affected by this bullshit.

I think the author of the question accidentally conflated “sexual assault” and “sexual harassment”. He/she begins by asking about sexual assaulters but then states that “1 in 3 women was sexually harassed”. 1 in 3 matches more closely to statistics about sexual assault. Most statistics about sexual harassment are closer to 80%.

There was an interesting study in an American university a while ago where men were asked about their sexual behaviour. Only around 1% admitted raping or being willing to rape a woman.

But around 33% said that they would do things to try to get a woman to change her mind after she said no, from pressuring her to getting her drunk. That’s rape. She said no, and trying to have sex with her after she said no is rape. But if you don’t use the word “rape”, around a third of men admit they do this.

There is a concept that I’ve come across a lot, the accidental rapist. A man who would never call himself a rapist, and would be horrified if he was accused of rape. But he assumes that when she agrees to something (dinner/nightcap at his place/close dancing in the club) that she has agreed to sex, and he goes ahead and has sex, even though she’s not joining in enthusiastically. Or at all. He believes that if he doesn’t hold a knife to her throat or if she’s not screaming NO! at the top of her lungs, it’s not rape. She knows she’s had sex she didn’t consent to, so she was raped.

So you’ll get a lot of men who insist they would never rape anyone and neither would their friends, so all the numbers about women who were raped must be wrong, but in the same breath will tell me that asking for consent is unnecessary because it breaks the mood.

Spoiler alert: if asking for consent breaks the mood, the mood wasn’t that good to begin with.

There are approx 9 billion people on the planet and assuming half are men, it suggests that the potential amount of male rapists and sex assault by men is likely to be around 1 to 2 billion.

There is however only a very low percentage of rape convictions and typically under less than 5% of those cases which go to trial end in a conviction.
