According to the Federal Highway Administration, in the U.S. women drive just over 10,000 miles per year and men drive over 16,000. Driving more hours puts men at an overall higher accident and injury risk. Note the higher incident rate mentioned in the article is roughly equivalent to the additional hours men drive.

Most articles that compare accident rates by sex are comparing overall or absolute rates or risk which is fine but they really should do a better job of clarifying this is very different from relative risk or relative rates. Absolute risk and relative risk are both good things to know, but it’s important to know which one an article or other source is talking about.

Uh, I think this statistic just shows men that men get into more car accidents? I don’t think it shows anything discriminatory abt men 😅. If the statistic was like “Men are 71% less likely to receive help because of traffic accidents than women” it would fit this sub more

Idk if this stat still holds true but a little over 5 years ago women have a higher ratio of accidents compared to men despite driving significantly less.

Personal experience: majority of the accidents I was almost a victim of were caused by women.

Just getting this off my chest because I drive an incredible amount and I'm tired of people almost hitting me. I'd like for my record to remain clean 😢

This is not in any way discrimination against men. Men are just more dangerous drivers than women, it's been proven again and again. A few months ago the road safety authority in my country ran a series of ads asking men to take a look at their driving habits and aim to change them. They had some shocking statistics to share (2016 to 2020), such as:

9 out of 10 driver fatalities, who were speeding, were men

9 out of 10 driver fatalities, who were not wearing a seatbelt, were men

87% of drivers arrested for driving under the influence of drink or drugs were men

74% of drivers arrested for speeding were men

Unfortunately many men feel they have something to prove when driving and show a bravado (or cockiness) that women don't often have. This is what's referred to as toxic masculinity, I know many people here don't like that term, so if you want to call it something else go ahead. But the statistics don't lie.

This isnt really mens rights issue , men are by nature more reckless drivers
