Hello beautiful ladies. I have a very unique situation and I don't know how best to deal with. I am seeking advice for the most 1. mature and 2. feminine RP way to handle this.
I am currently single and dating. At this stage in my life, I'm only dating men within my religion and who share my values (which include traditional gender roles). Over the year so far, I've dated over 10 different men. Many connections have been cut off either by myself or the man after we noticed incompatibilities. My dating strategy this year has been to be very open to get to know many men, and then be picky with who I end up allowing myself to get closer to. I'm currently talking to two men in a romantic context. Let me introduce them to you (names are fake):
Brad --- I met Brad on a religious dating site. Initially I didn't want to date anyone in another country, but this man swept me away with a perfect balance between respecting me and being boldly masculine. He has a personality type that I love. We messaged for a while, and have been talking weekly on the phone since March. Our calls are always enjoyable and long. Based on what I know about him so far, I've never met a man who shares all my values plus shares so many of my hobbies and interests. Due to complex personal reasons, we are not allowed to travel to each other's countries to visit each other. A month ago, Brad shared his desire for us to meet each other by flying to a third, different country that we're both allowed to enter. Let's call it Country X. I was very open to this, as I've been eager to meet him. Our trip is planned and happening soon. We're going to be able to adventure around a new country, which will alone be so much fun, as well as meet each other in person for the first time. The way we've set up the trip allows for space/boundaries that honor our religious values.
Nathan --- You know, in my 6+ years of caring about RP ideas and femininity, and seeking men who fit into the polarity, I have never been treated the way Nathan has treated me so far. We crossed paths at a religious social event, and he went out of his way to catch me, ask me about myself, chat for a bit, and then very directly tell me he wants to take me out someday. I was so charmed at his boldness. We shared numbers and since have had one dinner date that went wonderfully. The conversation was great, he made me feel like a lady, and he was again bold enough to give me a sweet little peck on the lips before saying goodbye. We have a second date set up at a fun venue soon. He shares very slightly fewer of my interests than Brad, but is more direct, of course lives way closer and shares my core values.
My dilemma is about whether or not, or how, I tell Nathan that I am going to Country X soon. If Nathan and I continue to like each other and want to go out on dates, then I have to somehow explain why I will be unavailable for a week soon. I just know that he will ask about that gap in my availability. I also refuse to lie, as a personal value. So, I am considering either telling him that 1. I am simply out of town and unavailable, or that 2. I am going to Country X with a friend. If I tell him I'm out of town, he might ask about what I'm up to, and I would hate to lie. I don't know how I could avoid lying. If I tell him I'm travelling, he might ask about my friend, and I'd have to explain that I'm seeing this other man.
I know that in this initial, casual stage of dating, there's no exclusivity, and so no pressure on anyone to disclose the extent of their dating life. But I worry about some things. If I tell Nathan that I'm travelling and he asks for details, how do I talk about Brad without making Nathan feel snubbed. I might not even click with Brad once we meet in person, so it's not as though I'm leading anyone on. If I tell Nathan I'm just unavailable, what happens if Nathan and I end up really clicking and becoming serious. If Nathan were my boyfriend one day, for the sake of honesty, I'd definitely tell him that I visited Country X in the past. Wouldn't he feel I had been dishonest back then? I would hate to have founded a relationship on hiding things.
Sigh. What do I say to Nathan? I suppose I'm trying to pick between intense honesty or coy quietness, and the risks involved with both. There also might be options I haven't considered. How would you feminine ladies handle this?
