Hey, TRP. I want to share a short story with you. I have a guy in my friends circle who is possibly one of the best examples out there on how to be a beta.

He was raised by his mother, his parents are divorced, he's 27, hasn't had one day of real work in his life. He works at entertainment venues from time to time as a sound technician or whatnot but it's not a full time job. His mother bought him a small apartment where he lives with his GF of 3 years. Basically this guy lives his life day to day and he's been financially supported by his mommy and his GF (who has a job, unlike him).

He's also a timid person, no confidence, no bravado, he is easily influenced by others and he is not the kind of person who would stand up to himself. I've seen him time and time again how people take advantage of that. He's always ready to take a step back in order to please someone else. AND YET... his GF is putting a lot of effort to impress him. She's a HB7 and a few weeks ago she put a hell of a preparation to throw a surprise birthday party for him. She bought him some expensive shit too, she spent maybe 100 $ for gifts (I'm from a country where 100$ can buy you food for 10 days at least).

At the same time she's super playful with his friends, me in particular, she always finds an excuse to touch me, talk to me, play with my hair or whatever. And I really don't get it. She's being really flirty with me and a couple of other guys, she's totally not showing the same level of affection in public towards him. At the same time from time to time she goes great lengths to impress his beta ass. She spends money, organizes surprise parties and vacations and pays for all that.

I really don't understand what's the dynamic here. Can you guys elaborate on that?

Just to clarify: I'm not trying to hit on his GF nor do I have such intentions in the future. I just want to hear your opinions on that matter. How can we explain all this using TRP?
