I wouldn’t be surprised if in about 10 years, sports are considered a primarily girl thing. I’ve noticed this trend that with female sports constantly being remotes that eventually it will overshadow make sports, despite the difference in ability. The instagram page for a sports team I liked is showing a certain trend. Of their last 10 uploads, 6 have been about the womens team, two have been about merchandise(gender neutral), and only two have been about the mens team. This is despite them having existed for much longer and being more successful both relatively and absolutely. Eventually boys will see the images in the media and come to the conclusion that sports are for girls, and they won’t play. Eventually when budget cuts are in order schools will choose to cut male sports teams, as it would be too politically incorrect to cut the girls teams. And of course the girls will exclude the boys from their games. Boys will lose a precious element of our culture that was initially designed for them to develop self esteem and build friendships, something that women already have and thus do not need sports for. I’m not against anyone who wants to play sports, but I see this trend emerging and I worry for the future of young men. Any thoughts
