"Female suicide rate is fastest rising".... NO. IT. IS. NOT. It only SEEMS that way BECAUSE THEY CHANGED THE DEFINITION OF WHAT THEY COUNT AS A SUICIDE ATTEMPT. I have been pointing this out for literally YEARS now but people STILL fall for their trick, just as they do for the wage gap myth.

So I posted on a "support forum" for depressed people, in a section called "rant about anything". I put how I was sickened by all the hate aimed at men. What happened? Feminists swarmed, got called incel, neckbeard, blah blah blah.

JK Rowling is upset about women "losing private, womens only spaces". Just like all the men who lost every single private space when feminists said male only gym nights or support groups/etc were sexist & had to accept women in..... JK Fail.

"my fiancé decided not to love me any more"... so she's an incel? according to what i hear incels are dangerous because they believe they're entitled to love and, well, men oppress women by stopping to love them.

feminists made their own darkest thoughts into their ultimate straw man enemy

[–]ebony-mori 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Or… they’re just going through a breakup.

[–]nineteenletterslong_ 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

if going through a break up oppresses you then you have the incel mindset.

i know the word oppression wasn't mentioned but it would be disingenuous not to acknowledge that that is the sentiment of the article.

but even then, if a bunch of men gathered at night to howl in grief after a break up you'd be frightened or at least women in general would consider it a threat

[–]OldEgalitarianMRA 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Men did get together and howl at the disparities between the sexes and it was shut down on reddit.

[+]ebony-mori -7 points-6 points-5 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Similar to men, there are some emotions that women are judged for expressing. Anger and frustration are a few key examples. The women doing this, albeit cringe, is just them expressing these emotions in private, as a group, in a healthy way as opposed to exploding one day.

Oppression was never mentioned. Someone does not become part of the incel movement immediately after being dumped. You’re making a big leap there.

A better example would be if men joined together in a big group in private to cry together, as sadness is a feeling men are judged for expressing. Would you judge that in the same way?

No, a group of men deciding to do the exact same thing as these women wouldn’t be deemed frightening, as it would be done with no one else around. If a bloke walked behind a woman at night and started screaming, yes that would be frightening. But a gender swap of the article wouldn’t be.

[–]OldEgalitarianMRA 11 points12 points13 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If men got together to howl at the victims they are by society in general they would be labelled a male supremacist terrorist rally and would be banned. Just as they label this site officially.

[–]nineteenletterslong_ 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

in general, men can't do anything that excludes women. the only place where it still happens is male locker rooms and even that's considered a threat.

but maybe you're right and this would be an exception but i still disagree because they wouldn't be allowed to give similar victimy reasons. the one i mention about break up would be considered the biggest "red flag" i think.

for what it's worth i think your post was well thought out and even polite which i never am so have my upvote

[–]ebony-mori 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Well the problem with male locker rooms is some of the chat that goes on stereotypically. I think it’s a vast generalisation though to say there is an issue with male locker rooms in general. The leaked Donald Trump conversation caused it really.

I think more male orientated things would be a good thing though. Would maybe provide a safe space for men to talk more without judgement.

Oh thank you! 😊

[–]Foxsayy 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

From the bits and pieces I've been told and overheard, locker room talk can be just as nasty, viscous, disgusting or wholesome regardless of which gender it is. I think whenever people are in a private, single-sex environment, they have another venue of acceptable, conversational topics that opens up.

Sometimes that can be a healthy thing, and it can obviously also be to their detriment. Btw, I think that he u/nineteenletterslong_ was saying that people find male only spaces in general problematic

[–]ebony-mori 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah, you're right there. Totally agree. It just depends on the individuals there as to what is said. I do like to believe though that male or female, these private, single-sex spaces are not inherently bad.

I can see that being a mindset, yeah. There are certainly some modern women that act as if they have been personally oppressed in their life, despite never having actually experienced any of things that first wave feminism fought. So, they see a space that they aren't allowed into as discrimination. It's a bit silly.

[–]Foxsayy 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I do like to believe though that male or female, these private, single-sex spaces are not inherently bad.

Definitely, I support these.

[–]Foxsayy 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It sounds like they're just venting. I'm not sure where men can yell these days women can't, but breakups are rough all around. Technically it's kinda true, I didn't see it mentioned that she blamed him in the article or thought he should have married her.

[–]nineteenletterslong_ 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

yeah. it's just that since it's a women only thing it does seem to feed into the female oppression narrative but i was too quick to jump to my guns and conflate it other things i read

[–]PoolPartyAtMyHouse 15 points16 points17 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This shit always blows my mind. Women are given a ridiculous amount of stages to speak (when has the UN allowed men to speak for men? for example). Yet when anyone mentions men's issues it's "we always talk about men's issues".. yet they can hardly even identify any issues men have....... in fact they counter thier own argument with shit like "men don't need help" and "men have always been able to solve their problems"

So which is it? Do men have no problems, or are we solving them all? Which would mean there are in fact issues.

At this point all you can do is sit back and watch it burn. Hit the gym, learn some survival skills, and figure out how to travel light when the time comes. Feminists, the government, and the media have completely lost touch with reality. It's time to look out for #1 and wait until the natural consequences of their actions come home to roost.

Not that your 1 - 3 word responses aren't intellectually devastating, but I really would like to hear your opinion. (Sorry, I couldn't resist the snark.) Honestly, I'm curios about your thoughts, so please do let em rip!

There are generally 2 camps in the MRA space. One thinks we should try to repair the system before it tanks. The other believes that there's no point and we should just enjoy the decline. I used to belong to the former, but now I find myself leaning towards the later. That's partly due to the deteriorating political environment here in the states over the last 6 years and partly due to coming to understand that human nature just isn't going to change. As much as I would like to think that we are not beyond the precipice, I just don't see much indication that we have realistic hope of redemption. I could be entirely wrong. God willing, maybe we're due a course correction in the near future. I hope that it's true, but I'm not betting the safety and security of my family on it. I agree that no one is going to "enjoy the decline". If the SHTF, It will be very unpleasant, if not deadly, for all involved. There won't be any "winners" only survivors.

[–]ProMaleRevolutionary 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"Course correction". The universe has no plan for us. There is no redemption. We will probably be extinct in two centuries.

At the very least the US needs to be broken up into at least two countries.

Men need their own political party.

[–]OldEgalitarianMRA 9 points10 points11 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

People hate it when men scream and call them abusive.

“Women want to scream,” Miller explains. “There are plenty of spaces for men to yell [but] we don’t often get to raise our voices [and] when we do we’re met with disapproval.”

It's an all women group. I wonder why? Don't men need emotional outlets or is this just another fem power group?

[–]ProMaleRevolutionary 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Rhetorical questions.

[–]63daddy 9 points10 points11 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Let them gather and scream all they want. It’s the way they advocate discrimination against men that concerns me.

Here’s a soothing feminist song for you.

https://youtu.be/OzsGmdmhDTI

[–]ebony-mori 11 points12 points13 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Okay this article is a bit cringe, yes. I’ll give you that. However what about this article indicates that feminist women are monsters and destroying society?

Similar to men, there are some emotions that women are shamed for experiencing. For example, anger and frustration. The article is just about some women that have decided to express these feelings in a healthier way than just exploding at someone.

[–]parahacker 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, I'm usually the first in line to dump on feminism, but this isn't feminism. It's just faddishness. Like the mythopoetic men back in the nineties. Or sweat lodges. or any other kind of 'outlet' for emotional outbursts.

Though I don't agree women are shamed any more than men are for anger and frustration; despite the cliche, in practice women are often shamed less for it.

As witness to this fact, men would be far too ashamed to form angry howling groups like those in the article. /s

But that said, this doesn't strike me as the end of society, or even all that awful. Really, the only thing that bothers me is that men wouldn't be able to get away with this kind of thing as much, because there's a double standard in place.

[–]ebony-mori -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I definitely do believe that frustration and anger are things that aren’t taken seriously, and are judged more when expressed by a woman than a man. Fighting is just chalked down to ‘boys will be boys’, whereas for women it’s dismissed as her monthlies, that she’s a Karen, or am over exaggerating woman.

I don’t think the article is actually anything really to do with feminism. It’s just quite cringe.

I don’t think men would be judged any harsher for this sort of behaviour. I think the main reason why men wouldn’t do this, as that would require talking emotion with friends and strangers to begin with.

[–]Foxsayy 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I think the main reason why men wouldn’t do this, as that would require talking emotion with friends and strangers to begin with.

This is obviously anecdotal, but in my life, ironically, the men I've known have been more adept at expressing their emotions, and are able to articulate them more deftly and precisely than my women friends. It's just that you have to feel safe with what you're sharing, and so if it's something you think can come back to haunt you or damage your image, it's usually shared between close friends.

I would sometimes helo find the words for one of my exes when we had heart to hearts, and when we broke up she attacked every vulnerability I trusted her with. I'm sure my experience isn't universal, but those are some of the reasons why men may hesitate to share their emotions and/or struggles, even if they want to.

[–]ebony-mori -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My statement was more based on the research done into the struggles men have expressing emotions, and the experiences shared on this sub. I do understand that this isn't always the case, and there are plenty of open and emotionally intelligent men out there. Just wanted to clarify that. :)

Yeah you are completely right there. It can be situational, and does depend on the friendship in question.

I am so sorry to hear about the mistreatment you faced from your ex. That is an awful thing to go through, and I hope you are healing. I don't doubt that women can be instigators in the struggles that men can have expressing their emotions and experiences. Unfortunately some people can be absolute assholes.

[–]Foxsayy 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I did not appreciate the biased sentiments regarding all the places men have to scream and be free birds without a care, but otherwise it just seems like women coping with their lives.

I would not have chosen screaming (I prefer to howl at the arrogance of the moon), but if it helps, good for them I guess.

“There are plenty of spaces for men to yell..."

Huh?

I am beginning to think that the expression, "There are plenty of spaces for men to..." is just coded language for, "I know what I do is socially inappropriate or makes me look like an idiot, so I'm going to hide behind a claim of 'I get to do it because equality bla bla bla.'"
