Also there are all kind of regulations to make artificial diamonds harder to use for jewelry. And diamonds are popular due to De Beers advertisements to convince women to persue diamond jewelry from their men.

A man didn't hype them to be expensive, DeBeers ran an insanely successful advertising campaign targeting WOMEN and created a global monopoly on supply. Demand skyrocketed. Supply was fixed. Prices went up. Not shocking that simple economics and feminism don't mix.

Yet they are the ones who won't get married unless the ring is big enough for them to flex on their friends. Men have known diamonds are a scam for awhile now, it's just unfortunate the culture has brainwashed women to think he isn't worth it unless he buys you a diamond ring.

Diamonds aren't "easy to find". If they were, we'd all be out collecting them. Yes, I know they're rationed by certain companies to inflate their value. Still, nobody's tripping over them.
