My husband and I married when I was 20, he was 21. we celebrate our 5th anniversary in a few months and are pregnant with our first child.

It’s rare to find traditional men in their early 20s if you look for them at bars, gyms, etc. My husband and I met online, but what drew me to him was his open devotion to me. He never played games, or tried to appear aloof. Even if I took hours to respond, he would answer me within minutes. He was and still is close to his family and his faith. He made it clear one month in that he wanted to be exclusive and a few months in he was clear that he could see me as his wife and the mother of his children, something he hadn’t seen in any other women he’d dated. Just be picky is what I suggest. He was my first official boyfriend because I refused to commit to men who didn’t share my traditional values. Don’t be afraid to drop men who you feel waste your time.

I doubt you’re truly ugly either. I focused on taking care of myself around age 18. I started working out regularly and eating healthy, lost weight unintentionally in doing so, and got into skin/hair/self care rituals, and researched how to dress for my body type. It turns out I was never ugly, I just didn’t see the effort other women made to be beautiful. And confidence does wonders for beauty, you’ll gain a lot of that in exercising and taking care of yourself.

At your age not a lot of men want to commit yet. If you’re concerned about your appearance take time to work on it. The internet and social media are full of people teaching you how to properly take care of your skin and apply make up, how to style your hair, how to dress, and how to get in shape. There is also way too much dating advice. Find sources that resonate with you and your goals. Everything you need to build the life of your dreams is available if you’re willing to put in the work.

The good news is that money can buy beauty. What do you do for work? Easy ways to improve your looks pretty much overnight is hair and skin care and teeth whitening strips and eyebrow shape up. You don’t have to spend a ton, but improving your looks has a huge return on investment in the dating world.

From my perspective as a man, women are more mature than men when both are in their 20s. When I met my wife I was 29 and she was 23 and the dynamic worked well for us. Not saying a specific age is important as much as someone who is emotionally ready for a committed relationship and wants to build a life together with shared goals and values.

Its true that it is far less likely for you to find someone that wants to commit at your age. Most men and I'd argue even women aren't ready for that level of commitment at your age. Men especially though as many men haven't created any value yet.

As far as being as attractive as possible, I'd say follow the ladies advice here (Im a dude) but make sure you are not overweight. Not covered in tatts and piercings, have goals and hobbies and dress sexy but not provocatively. Take care of your hair etc.

If you want to settle down soon I'd say start looking at dudes in their mid 30s or older (depending on how big of an age gap bothers you). Hope that helps.
