Tonight at dinner I was discussing the jameis winston accusation with my fiancée and by the end of dinner I got her to admit that when the accuser is female the man is already assumed guilty and that the damage is in the accusation not the conviction, therefore false accusations should be punished with equal severity as the punishment for the crime of which one is falsely accused. There was much more to the conversation but this was a huge victory for me because she is part of the academic community and wouldn't accept an opposing point of view without concrete evidence and rock solid examples and argument.
