No. Her body her choice, and that's absolutely correct.

The difference is that feminists leave it at that, where we insist on the corollary: if you bear 100% of the choice, you bear 100% of the responsibility.

Until we have artificial wombs it will be incredibly difficult (and morally abhorrent) to deal with matter involving the woman's body. If she wants to abort the baby you cannot prevent her (and should not be able to) prevent her from doing so. She can't be a human incubator and take all the risks that come with pregnancy for a child she doesn't want - the stress of it all could harm the baby if she was forced to anyway.

For a man not wanting the child the mother wants all we can ask for are financial abortions where the woman is left a reasonable amount of time to get her own abortion. Do everything to get the man "served" (post in newspapers to notify the father, tell the state, try get hold of him) and then he has up until about 1-2 weeks before the abortion deadline of that state to say he'll pay for the baby or not.

If she does not do what's in her power to contact him and demands the payments it can go to court for her to prove she told him and for him to prove he didn't know. Obviously if there is no abortion in the state there is no financial abortion since the woman would end up having to have a baby she can't support just because she can't get the abortion (and with the abortion rights getting ever more restricted this is going to become more of an issue).

I hope we do have artificial wombs soon because then it means fathers who want the kid (while the woman doesn't) can have the child and raise/pay for it himself (thus have a choice) while also restricting all the risks that come with pregnancy for women who want kids but don't want to/are at risk when giving birth.

Until then we are stuck with pushing for financial abortions while waiting for scientists to get something functional going.

It's a shame when a couple disagree on whether or not to have the baby and it can be very emotionally painful. I feel for the man. But ultimately it is and should be up to the woman if she wants to abort or not. Why? Because, as others on this thread have mentioned, the woman is the one giving up her body and her freedom to this baby. She could lose her job and her health. Is it entirely fair that a man might be willing to sacrifice those things in order to have a baby but can't? No. But that's just life, I'm afraid.

This is about a father who saw a child he wanted aborted, against his feelings, against his wish.

There are fathers forced to pay up for a child that they did not want.

What is common: Men have no rights. Women alone decide.

If the man wants to give birth to a baby, he should get himself pregnant.

(Less sarcastically, he could hire a surrogate.)
