Women have the majority of the control over whether they get pregnant, so they should bear the majority of the responsibility for caring for a child that they cause to be brought into the world.

I'm glad to know you think that mothers should be favored in child custody hearings over fathers, since the child is clearly mostly theirs. There really shouldn't be a debate about this at all: children should go with mothers because they're mothers have the majority of responsibility for them. /s

Do you not understand what "zero" means? If a woman is pregnant she has to determine whether she'll abort the pregnancy, whether she'll carry it to term and raise it or carry it to term and adopt it out. She still has responsibility as far as the embryo that some man impregnated her with, either with or against her will. Even if she decides to carry it, she may miscarry. Her responsibility extends far beyond the act of sex.

In the scenario you're proposing, men have absolutely zero responsibility for any pregnancy they're a part of. They can shoot it off in 50 women in one week of debauchery, walk away, and never have to think twice about if they used protection, because every part of the after-splooge is on the woman, the child and the taxpayers.

I get the feeling you realize this and are trying to dodge it, since you couldn't respond to the fact that you're suggesting the very hypoagency the MRM always writhes and whines about.

Women can very easily check if a man is using protection. Unprotected sex only happens if women agree to it. Men can be lied too about protection.

You apparently do not understand what responsibility means. In no stage of a pregnancy or having a child does a woman have to do anything. Sure, some unavoidable consequences occur, but consequences are not the same thing as responsibility.

Obviously? I think you'd better try to explain how a child is the responsibility of the mother because biology, yet a man suddenly gets equal consideration if he wants it. Either it's both of their responsibility, or one or the other. None of this wishy-washy "well if he doesn't want it then the mother is totes responsible for her actions, but if he does want it then he's magically now an equal to the biologically tied mother."

That's because when they get adopted they live in a two-parent home and don't need taxpayer support. Funny how different that is from trying to scrounge by on whatever money you had before you had to take unpaid maternal leave from your job with no guarantee you can get it back, deciding whether or not the amount of money you can make justifies paying for daycare, or if it's more cost-effective just to stay home and not spend the day-care money.

But yeah, you're right, it's totally the same.

A man whose girlfriend tells him she is using protection is currently screwed in a similar way, but no-one seems to have a problem with that.

If the child actually gets adopted. If it doesn't the child and the taxpayer suffer.

This is exactly the same as what would happen if a women choose to raise the child, except that it would have at least one parent guaranteed. And if it is really better to put the child up for adoption the mother can do that.

Also, all this talk of "fathers abandoning their responsibilities" costing so much is missing the point. The children of single mothers end up costing the taxpayer huge amounts of money, and not because of the costs of raising them, but because of how they turn out without a father figure in their lives. Changing societal attitudes so women have to see men as more than bank accounts and fathers have a choice to financially support a child would do a lot to help this problem.

You are pretending that forcing a man to pay for a child is him being a father when it clearly isn't. But that is what we currently force men to do, and they are only involved if the woman says so. Having men have some leverage and making women responsible for their choices can only have the effect of reducing fatherlessness.
