I, personally, like being a man and can't picture myself as being anything else. But I do see that right now, in our society, being a woman is much more flexible than being a man. We have widened women's roles to encompass almost every path and have accepted that as a society. I would say men ...not so much.

We are still stuck in the "women are wonderful" meme, yet women, for the most part, have full agency. Empathy and understanding for men and boys are just now starting to emerge. I see this happening with the boy's crisis in schools. We recognize a problem, but are afraid to really address it on a national level. The same with family courts, alimony, and child support.

With agency and autonomy come responsibilities, and as more women feel things from our stereotypical side they will voice their displeasure. Alimony reform and shared custody actually have quite a number of women supporters, because they are actually feeling the pain of the status quo. Second wives see the real anguish and pain some of these men go through. That is where the "women are wonderful" effect can really help.:)

More of these paradoxes will follow and we, as a society, will not be able to ignore them for much longer. But as for now, I can see how many guys would see being female as more of a plus.

Female. They have higher rates of college graduation/entrance, they can get child support/alimony, they're not expected to do as many things as men are solely based on their gender, when a crime does happen to them, they're more likely to get sympathy, and for smaller things, they're less likely to be held accountable for their actions.

I suppose you might get bored with either choice after a while.

I can't speak for myself because I am what I am already, and I would be uncomfortable with female privilege if I suddenly attained it. But I can tell you based on the future. If I could choose to have a boy or a girl, I'd pick girl, because I think she'd have a lot more opportunities and a better chance at happiness.
