Almost everyone here acknowledges that women face their own set of problems which need solving. What we have a problem with is a group (feminism) that pretends to be able to define and solve all gender based problems by caring only about the problems women face.

To put it in a simplified analogy, just because I dislike Greenpeace doesn't mean I don't care about the environment.

Here's the real problem. There are some very influential organizations that many would maintain represent mainstream feminism (NOW, AAUW are prime examples) who use their influence in part to actively create some of the issues that the MRM fights. Many good people considering themselves feminist are unaware of this, and continue to support them financially, politically, and morally. They are extremely resistant to hearing the good name of these organizations sullied. Because of the power of the feminist brand. This is why some of the MRM are egalitarian, sympathetic to women's issues, non-traditionalists, and still call themselves anti-feminist. Because we think that the term feminism has become enshrined in an aura of moral authority that allows real harm to be done and go unchecked in its' name.

This is why you encounter hostility towards feminism. We mean to damage the brand. And we have legitimate cause to want to do so.

I think it's important that we keep in mind that women do have a lot of problems; more problems than we have.

Show me the math. Without some framework to demonstrate that one gender "has more problems" than the other, gender activism is largely reduced to acts of propaganda; issues are only recognized to the degree to which the public in general agrees that they are so. I'll agree that feminism has been very effective in releasing cultural memes that indicate that women have more problems than men, but I also know that this message has been carefully cultivated (see Mary Koss, the CDC, and definitions of rape for an example). I do acknowledge that women have problems, and that men have problems, and that they can have problems simultaneously. On some issues, one gender clearly 'has it worse' (sexual harassment on the street, educational attainment in the united states). On other issues, men and women both have it bad in different qualitative ways (social expectations surrounding the respective genders). I don't see why anyone with a legitimate complaint doesn't deserve to be heard.

This is MensRights, not Women's Problems. Jesus Christ, must every fucking thing on the planet revolve around and concern itself with women? This is NOT THE CONCERN OF THE MRM. How fucking gendercentric can you be? If there is hostility towards women in this movement, it is precisely because of this. The world does not revolve around women alone, I'm sorry, but it doesn't, it can't. That is not an unreasonable viewpoint - until feminism reconciles itself to that fact, we are going to have problems.

Women's issues already have a strong voice...our intent is not to dismiss or deny that voice but to give men an equal shot at being heard for their issues. Also, we don't expect or need feminists to take us seriously.
