What the fuck.

No, no. This is something that I see women constantly deal with, and it's bullshit. From my best friend who wrote her masters thesis on the sexuality of catwoman, and was treated as if she knew nothing about comic books. Even guys going so far as to shush her while they were talking.

Yes, some feminists make big deals out of tiny shit. Dongle Gate, the TombRaider fiasco, etc. But man this shit really does happen every day to them, and there is good reason to be pissed when every day you're just thought to be incompetent because you're a woman.

I often talk about the expectation of competence that men face, but definitely side with the women on this one.

Let's be honest. There is a non-zero number of women in tech who have their jobs because they are women and the company didn't want to look "sexist". Everyone knows this.

So what does that mean? That means every woman in tech has to first prove herself that she's not a gender-based hire and does actually know her stuff.

The only thing that should really matter is practicing your craft and enjoying it. Pick any feminist icon in science or technology-related fields and see how much time she spent complaining about the patriarchy. We should be displaying our competency through our technical skills and letting it speak for itself.

The first computer programmer was female and the only person to win nobel peace prizes in two different sciences was also female.
