If I'm reading this right, men report domestic assault at a higher rate than women?

I know that men are more likely to be victims of violent crime in general, and I had heard a female/male 70/30, 60/40 and even a 50/50 figure before on who was the victims of domestic violence, but I've never heard that men report DV done to them at almost twice the rate of women.

What is going on here?

It's interesting that the amount of men who identify as being abusive pretty much matches the rate of women saying they were abused but the number of women who say they are violent is only half what men are reporting.

Meaning there is a pretty large disconnect in how the genders view DV. Men seem to understand when they're being abusive. Half the women who are abusive don't see it as abuse.

It's easier to address a problem that's viewed as a problem than one that isn't seen as any real issue. Tackling female on male violence is going to be a very difficult problem.

And things like VAWA, reinforcing the stereotype that DV is men abusing women, isn't going to help.

This is how feminism helps men too.
