I keep being told about my "white male privilege", but I don't see it. From my point of view, I don't have the ability to go to school. I'll never get a decent job despite my natural talents and abilities. The only thing in my life that's worthwhile is my child. It's the social science equivalent of HAARP.

I don't reject feminism because I hate women, I reject feminism because it's a bigoted and sexist set of beliefs that attempts to shame/DARVO/tone police me into believing I'm the cause of all of the world's problems, simply because my male ancestors allegedly set up an invisible patriarchy and that my masculinity/sexuality/worldview is toxic and that I'm oppressing the fuck out of these poor womyns.

I see the advantages that women have in STEM - fuck I was a STEM emissary for years! I see amazing men being forced out of their jobs, to be replaced by young women fresh out of University; institutional knowledge lost forever.

About the only thing that keeps me from fucking off to some other country or blowing my brains out is my child. Ironically, it was my mother's suicide that's precipitated this; I know how it feels.

I feel shameful and worthless; because my default setting is "potential rapist" or whatever - yet I'm supposed to believe I'm a part of this invisible patriarchy that's oppressing the women who hold power over me; and the only worthwhile part of my life is being a parent?

Sounds familiar..

tl;dr: feminism is working to help me. My lawyers? Women. My social worker? A woman. My counselor? A woman. The majority of my best friends? Women. My landlord? A woman. Social service front liners?

Women.

They work to help me, and I'm grateful.

But feminism? No fucking way.

Edit: grammar.

Edit to add: Wow! What an amazing example of discourse. Thank you for participating, everyone! :D
