Feminists drafted a bill to roll back men's reproductive rights thereby trying to CREATE a law on the books restricting men's reproductive rights. Whether or not you think it is in the spirit of sarcasm holds no bearing on whether it represents a legitimate threat to men's rights and just as importantly, ill will towards men by feminists in power.

And to be frank, you still don't get it. You don't get to make the call about whether something is a legitimate threat to men's rights or not. You get to either respect what THEY determine are legitimate threats, or (as you seem wont to do) not.

But I hope you understand that if you don't take things like this (which we deem to be legitimate threats to our reproductive rights) seriously, then you shouldn't be surprised when we don't take your concerns seriously. Personally I'll be laughing when I see a bill to make abortion illegal and vote yes. And I'll make sure to think of you.

Actually, the fact that the bill is "in the spirit of sarcasm" and thus not intended to ever actually pass, pretty much negates the "legitimate threat" it poses to men's rights. It has nothing to do with actually wanting to deny men vasectomies, but to call attention to the ridiculous restrictions being placed on women's bodily autonomy. It's an attack on conservative lawmakers, not men. I guess this went over your head.

On the other hand, the texas senate is already set to begin another special session so it can try again to pass the abortion bill in an attempt to effectively restrict any access to abortion in the state. (I imagine this would have a negative impact on men/child support as well.) In fact, Perry was says that he's encouraged by the widespread anger and protests.

The two scenarios are not equal, and if you think that they are you need to do some reading every now and then.

It doesn't matter if it was "never intended to pass" because besides the actual possibility that it could, what it represents is a threat to men's reproductive rights in the form of ill will towards men by feminists in power. The very notion that anyone would ever go so far as to create a bill to threaten the rights of another person purely in jest is so monstrous and abhorrent that it fails as sarcasm and registers as an attack.

The two scenarios are not equal.

You might as well say that men and women are not equal. Or that you and I are not equal. The fact is that this not only concerns men like me, it insults us. And when you dismiss and minimize that concern and outrage, you withdraw yourself from our concern.

I never claimed to be an egalitarian although I suppose I am. But first I am a realist and a Machiavellian. If feminists think it is a funny to create bills attacking men's reproductive rights then I will respond in kind and all good humor. This isn't a matter of vindictiveness. It's a matter of principle. Men's rights are no trifle and when you treat them as such your own rights become forfeit.

A woman's fair/protected access to abortion doesn't have a negative impact on you or anyone else.

While abortion isn't be a big deal to me as an individual, it is a big deal to the women in my life and so I vote to protect their rights. This is an example of how even though a threat doesn't affect me personally, I treat it seriously because it affects other people who I respect and care about. However, my principles run deeper than my love. And men's rights have been trampled on by feminists for the past hundred years in cavalier and unchallenged fashion with no sign of stopping. Knowing that feminists like yourself seem to think men's reproductive rights are some big joke makes it clear that you need to learn how deadly serious human rights really are. And so I will vote to remove yours. I certainly hope you find THAT amusing.

As I said, respect earns respect. You stupid feminists never seemed to learn that.

A fetus doesn't get the right to use someone's body against someone's will. It is there by PERMISSION, not by RIGHT. Learn the difference.

Ah, there you go again, insulting people to try and persuade them, truly fantastic. I guess a 2 year old child is only allowed to live under somebody's house by permission, not by right. Just toss it in the dumpster.

Again, the primary question that should be asked is when does a human child get rights? If you think it should be after the umbilical cord it cut then that is entirely different than if you think it's after whatever months of pregnancy.

People refuse to actually try and understand each other, so this argument becomes a shouting match. It's sad that humans are so willing to dismiss one another. I believe the world would be a better place if we all slowed down and respected one another's opinions, and actively tried to understand them. Instead we get people throwing around terrible accusations to one another, and we trick ourselves into calling it progress.

I also think that people should be allowed to kill other people if they have insulted them. Don't force me into the same boat as you, and say that I shouldn't be allowed to kill when my honor is at stake.

I don't think I should subsidize other people's health insurance don't force me into that boat by making me pay into such a system.

I don't think I should the money that I earn should should be taken away from me forcibly and given to people who aren't even trying to better their lives, don't force me into that boat.

So you see how weak the argument "don't force other people into the same boat" is? How it's done all the time in society? How all you have to do is change the perspective and you can come to a completely different result?

You think it's a being, with a hearbeat that can feel pain Those are all actual facts, not opinions. The question is, and will remain, when does a human get it's rights to autonomy? And if our definition is: when it can't survive on it's own. What are the implications of that?

The fetus didn't choose to exist, the choices of an adult human are what lead to it existing. Making the choice to create something, only to destroy it when it can feel pain and think seems rather sadistic to me.

You understand that you cherry picked that comment out of the thread right?

You shouldn't take control away from anybody, that's the point. While some of the programs implemented in the bills actually would sound like a good idea for keeping men healthy, it's the idea that people should be able to control what happens with their own body.

As long as she doesn't actually try to pass those bills, that's fine. Satire is sometimes a good way of making a point.

It's an act of satire. The aim isn't to get this bill passed; the aim is to show how ridiculous all of the anti-women's rights legislation is.

It's not "revenge," it's a matter of principle. If men are outraged by this, it's for good reason. Women don't like being told what to do with their bodies just as much as men.

What the hell has happened to r/MR? While there are legitimate problems with feminism from a men's rights perspective, that doesn't mean you should throw the truth under the bus.
