A guy posted in r/AmItheAsshole about his wife yelling at him about the housework like a stereotypical '50s husband. They used to split housework equally because they both worked full-time but the husband became disabled and started working part-time and doing the vast majority of the housework. The wife started ordering the husband around like a servant and it escalated into emotional abuse. The wife told the husband she was going to take a shower and they could discuss dinner afterwards. Then less than a minute later, she came back and yelled at the husband about why he hadn't started cooking. She yelled things like "You should know what to cook without me having to tell you" and "Do I have to do everything for you?." She then took a shower while the husband was cooking and when she came back and saw him still cooking she snapped "So the food isn't even ready?." He politely told her that he didn't appreciate her being so aggressive with him and she said that his health issues were making him think she was being aggressive and he needed to toughen up.

The top comment said that she's just stressed about being the breadwinner and needs counseling (which they were already in) and that he shouldn't tell someone who's upset to calm down (which he didn't). The next top comment gave the NAH vote (no assholes here) and said that the husband should stop arguing with his wife about her tone and start addressing what's wrong with the relationship. Yet another top comment gave the ESH vote (everyone sucks here) and said that the wife shouldn't yell at her husband but she also shouldn't have to tell a grown man what to do (even though she said they could discuss dinner after she finished taking a shower and then yelled at him about dinner anyway). The next four top comments two top comments down expressed the same sentiment. Thankfully the vast majority of the other comments (including some of the top comments, thank goodness) and replies to the top comments said that if we reversed the roles, everyone would be crucifying the husband and telling the wife to get out of an abusive relationship. They also said that no one would be sympathetic to a husband demanding dinner from his wife in any circumstance, especially if the wife was disabled. r/AmItheAsshole is absolute trash, they let women get away with the most awful behavior while crucifying men for far less. The post is a year old so I hope the husband has gotten away from his abusive wife. You can read it here.
