Contemporary mainstream feminism is not against pornography by principle despite being quite often critical towards it. If you don't believe me don't forget that they coined the acronym SWERF (sex worker exclusionary feminist). They were firmly anti-porn in the 1960s and the 1970s but later changed their position to avoid being destroyed by a serious backlash given that porn consumption is huge and largely widespread. And this is the crux of my thought experiment: if feminists reverted to their pristine position about pornography maybe the masses of men (and even women) would react from their apathy and start doing something really effective to stop a toxic ideology from promoting gender hatred. Society would still be gynocentric but at least a significant step towards the right direction would be done. Now you're gonna tell me that banning porn is not practical because of the VPN technology but it's not the practical aspect per se that I'm considering but the idea of having a prominent movement like feminists campaigning against a common past-time would piss a lot of people off ingenerating a potentially serious reaction making feminism even less popular that it is now.
