Regardless of what the rules say about gender, it's still very clear about chemical enhancers. I don't understand how taking testosterone doesn't disqualify him.

[–]The-os2[🍰] 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think it was from one of Joe Rogan's podcasts but in some sports you are allowed to have a maximum concentration of testosterone in your blood before you are disqualified. Take this statement with care as I'm not sure of it's origin (or the validity).

[–]xNOM 18 points19 points20 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Because he said the magic SJW words: "I identify as..."

[–]geniice 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The reverse. He identifies as male and wants to wrestle as a boy. However under the rules of the state he's in (texas) he's require to wrestle under as the gender he was assigned at birth. People's fear of SJWs is the core of the problem here.

[–]mwobuddy 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Actually, its probably because women are worried that being in a male locker room and also wrestling against males will be or lead to sexual assault.

Anyway, this person's proving gender differences.

[+][deleted] -8 points-7 points-6 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Her. It's a her on steroids. Not a him.

[–]LordChaoticX 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She hasn't accepted being a man either she still wears bras or covers herself with some sort of sport belt looking thing in her photos

Her

[–]Sub-Sero-7 points 8 years ago [recovered] (5 children) | Copy Link

Beggs is in the process of transitioning from female to male

It's a FTM. Get it? Her is what she is. She wants to compete with boys but is prevented from doing so due to rules.

Disgusting degenerate world.

[–]JulianneLesse 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

It's a FTM.

Thank you so much for sticking up to them, you did great with this comment and I really appreciate it. If in the future it might be good to not refer to a trans individual as 'it' as they are often referred to by bigots. Though I know you meant no ill intent with this, more of a heads up

[–]njullpointer 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

the problem here is that thanks to the snowflake genders, what are we supposed to use? some people demand to be called 'it'. It's ridiculous.

Personally I have no problem using "her" for somebody who's finished transitioning from MtF, or him for the reverse, but until that point it's cross-dressing. It's the only thing that makes logical sense to me unless I want to be an ass about being transgender, and I don't.

[–]JulianneLesse 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I have never heard someone preferring it, they usually prefer they/them

[–]njullpointer -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

which I object to also, because it's mangling language and literature. I shouldn't need to learn 350 new sets of pronouns and spend a half hour with every person noting down what articles of clothing mean my new gender queer freespirit toothbrushkin feels more like a xier over a kier versus and mier versus and whatever the other stupid baby babble they won't fly into a tantrum about today.

This happens with me, and somebody demands some set of pronouns, they're getting told to refer to me as "lord and master", "great one" and "most gracious giver of light" in every. single. sentence.

[–]Aivias -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

they usually prefer they/them

Too bad pandering to mental illness isnt taking off quite so fast in the real world.

[–][deleted] 28 points29 points30 points 8 years ago (21 children) | Copy Link

Yes, he should, but them's the rules.

FTA:

Beggs had asked to wrestle in the boys’ division, but the rules for Texas public high schools require athletes to compete under the gender on their birth certificate.

[–][deleted] 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

[permanently deleted]

[–]TracyMorganFreeman 13 points14 points15 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Actually not really. If the rule disallow them from competing against boys, the rules also disallow people from taking chemical enhancement.

[–]JulianneLesse 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

It's not really a chemical enhancement more of an antidepressant, it is the officials who are making him fight in the wrong matches

[–]tmone 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Buuuulllsshhhiiiitttttt...... Its enhancement. It's an anobolic steroid. Hell, it's the foundation of any good cycle. Including mine!

It's quit simple. Test=muscle.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

LMAO testosterone is one of the most powerful steroids in existence. Are you fucking crazy?

[–]TracyMorganFreeman 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Those are not mutually exclusive.

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points-1 points 8 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

Actually, she should not. She is not a male, so no matter how much testosterone she takes she should not be competing in a male league.

When you allow that, the converse is that men can compete in female leagues if they drop their testosterone to a sufficiently low level. And we can all see the problems there.

[–]shydude92 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

This is the whole conundrum that is involved in this issue. If you force athletes to compete under their original gender, then MTF athletes will be at a disadvantage while FTM athletes will have an advantage, while if you force them to compete under their chosen gender, the opposite is true. There’s no skirting the problem either way.

[–]Rethgil 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The whole mess highlights the madness and impossibility when the whole trans stuff meets real world issues and demands every aspect of the entire world change. Can't help thinking that seems incredibly egotistical and unbalanced.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

There absolutely is a solution: girls like in this story can't compete in either league. She doesn't meet the criteria. She's taking vast performance enhancers meaning she should be disqualified from the girls league, and she can't compete in the boys league because she doesn't meet the most fundamental requirement.

[–]Rethgil 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes! This multiplied by a million.

[–]skywreckdemon 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

*he

Regardless of where you think he should compete, there's no need to disrespect his gender identity.

[–]Aivias 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

disrespect his gender identity

I bet you were the type to cry when you lost games as a child

[–]skywreckdemon 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nope. I bet you're the type who hates trans people.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's unfortunate, but you can't choose your identity. Certain things are innate and biological sex is the most fundamental of these. Pronouns indicating gender are simply a recognition of this.

[–]skywreckdemon 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You can't choose your identity. Which is why it's important to respect trans people, because we didn't choose to have gender dysphoria and identify as a different gender.

[–]Rethgil 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yep.

This is a classic case of self interest and modern self obsession ("I'm actually a butterfly") meeting basic common sense and real world events.

Taking drugs and stating you're something you aren't does not make it so.

She is, and always will be, a she. The only thing she has changed is her outward appearance and media profile. The song, (as the saying goes), and her chromosomes, remain the same, and always will be.

Vote this post down if you want but know this; you're voting down inarguable established fact based on your emotions.

[–]subthrowaway321 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You're getting down voted because of your closed mind. The issue isn't about gender really at all here. The issue is if the testosterone is giving this individual an unfair advantage or not, and what to do about it. You're just so caught up in your own little narrative you can't even see the forest from the trees.

[–]Rethgil 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Actually the posters logic was simple and sound. The only sign of a closed mind is your obviously emotional based reaction.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

What's closed minded about thinking a woman shouldn't compete in a league for men?

ETA: Not only is testosterone level the only factor affecting performance but it also varies a great deal amongst men. Should we start banning men with naturally high testosterone production because it gives them an unfair advantage?

[–]YuenHsiaoTieng 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Funny thing is the rule was clearly put into place to protect the women's division from trans women. Guess they forgot about those occasional ftms.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

girl can now take steroids and still compete in girls' wrestling

girl is destroying competition

[–]skywreckdemon 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

He wants to compete with the boys. He's just not being allowed.

[–]Aivias1 points 8 years ago* [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

She.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nope.

[–]njullpointer 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

this is the logical conclusion of the transgender movement. I can't think they'll be happy with it for long, because whilst they're busy saying that biological sex doesn't exist, all the men and ex-men will be taking all of the trophies and setting a bar so high that no female could ever hope to reach it, let alone better it.

[–]ulthrant82 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This example is of a girl taking hormones to become a guy, so there no "men and ex-men" in this story.

[–]njullpointer -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

same difference when it comes to taking large amounts of a hormone designed (naturally, but even so) to bulk up your muscles.

You've got hordes of athletes trying their level best to get naturally stronger versus one person who for various reasons is allowed to take drugs that boosts their performance by tens of percentage units.

It's the same deal the other way when you have somebody who trains for years with that drug in their system, develops that larger frame and has a baseline set far higher than their peers.

[–]Rethgil -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yes, it really is pretty stupid when the argument is taken to the conclusion. I've always said this. Such a dogmatic Trans attitude to the world and the demands that everything be changed to accomodate them id fundamentally flawed as it simply doesn't even work.

[–]njullpointer 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's not that I mind per se, it's that I laugh about the SJW's shooting themselves in the foot once more. Not only do they eat their own, but they're destroying their own legacy to boot. When all the medals are held by men in men's groups and ex-men (or FtM) in women's groups, what's left for the women? Nada.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (26 children) | Copy Link

Why is a high schooler going through a sex change? How does this girl figure she's a boy and not just a girl interested in boy stuff?

Imo, allowing your kid to go through this is child abuse. She still has 7 more years of development; she's has no clue what she wants at 18.

[–]PugSwagMaster 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (25 children) | Copy Link

How about you just let the actual experts decide what's best?

[–]beefdx 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Ok but experts don't tell kids what they have to do, they just prescribe them drugs they ask for. If the doctors weren't giving them the drugs they want they'd still be getting sued, so they just let the parents make the call and put it on them.

The bottom line is the parents are giving their child hormonal treatment with or without a doctor's recommendation, so the ones making the actual decisions are by no means experts.

Agree or disagree with it, it's not experts making these calls, most experts aren't going to recommend giving people hormonal treatments they don't strictly need. Gender dysphoria is a psychological condition, not a hormonal one.

[–]PugSwagMaster 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Uh no as someone who's very familiar with the process there's usually at least 2 doctors and 1 psychiatrist and they do a lot of testing and therapy to determine if it's best.

[–]Rethgil 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Its not really though is it? From what I recall its not very in depth and could easily be faked in order to get the go ahead.

[–]beefdx 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I know a person who did it at age 16, it was very easy for them, they essentially had to get their parents to sign off on it. I also know people who easily obtain hormones without a doctor. I am sure that some people have to jump through hoops with certain doctors, but plenty of people don't. If it was that tightly controlled, then it would barely ever happen except it happens constantly because most doctors know if they say no somebody else will say yes or they will get the drugs illegally so at least they'd rather sign them off, but it's very much a stamp and sign sort of thing, it's not some tightly controlled medical procedure undergone after intensive investigation and expert opinion that you should give a girl synthetic testosterone and fuck with their puberty.

You're kidding yourself if you think that transgender hormone therapy is tightly controlled by experts, the whole thing has basically become a political game, and most doctors just step out of the way.

[–]PugSwagMaster 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I had to see a phyciatrist and a doctor at the university of Michigan. So just because some doctors sign off on it immediately doesn't make it an inherently bad thing. That doctor didn't follow protocol.

[–]beefdx 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Ok and so the fact that your doctor took minor efforts to do their due diligence means you think they seriously vetted whether or not that was a recommendable way to handle yours or any other person's situation?

They walked through the paces with you, those doctors don't often turn people down in those situations, they basically just walk you through, they make their recommendation, they hardly ever fight. It takes more effort for people to get a doctor to prescribe pain medications in most jurisdictions than it does to get hormones. Quit acting like this is a tightly vetted medical procedure because it absolutely isn't.

[–]PugSwagMaster 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's just as vetted as most medications are. A?so they usually put kids on blockers until they're 16/17 or for a year if they're already that age to give them time to make!e sure. It's completely reversible once you go off the blockers.

[–]beefdx 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This doesn't make a difference to this idea that you are presenting that we leave these calls up to experts; these doctors just give them the drugs they want, they hardly give a shit whether it's completely inadvisable, and most doctors are completely aware that the mental health outcomes for transgender people before and after treatment are the same.

The point is, doctors don't really care if it's a good idea or not, they just give you what you ask for. A hormonal child or their parents are the ones actually making the calls, and they are by no means experts.

The expert opinion on hormone therapy is almost universally: Give them what they want, you're not going to stop them anyways.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Experts can be wrong, and have been before. Just pointing that out, not saying they're wrong or right and don't care to argue about it either way.

[–]Aivias 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

experts

Quacks willing to slide'n'dice the mentally ill in pursuit of some Frankenstein-like creation are not to be trusted. These people still talk like John Money was a swell guy and his ''''''research'''''' is still cited despite the horrifying ethical violations it involved.

[–]PugSwagMaster 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

So the entire consensus of the APA is just quacks?

[–]Rethgil 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Typical cherry picking by you.

Just a couple years back the general medical consensus of the same group you cite was that Trans issues were mere signs of mental illness.

Were you championing experts for the sake of it then? Or just now it fits your views?

[–]Rethgil 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Medical and scientific experts agree its child abuse.

Self anointed cultural experts say its empowering.

Guess which "experts' get ignored and which are championed?

[–]PugSwagMaster 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

So the APA and AMA aren't experts? LOL ok pal.

[–]Rethgil 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not what I said- my point was that YOU declare them experts only when they agree with your views- but denounce them for decades of disagreeing with you.

That's weak dude.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Experts widely agree that human development continues till right around 25. What kind of expert allows a kid that isn't fully developed to transition his/her sex? What kind of parent goes along with this? After 25, you wanna swap your bits around or you feel like you need to swap your bits around, go for it. Before 25? If argue you are just questioning who you are as a person, which is completely normal.

[–]PugSwagMaster 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

If you made trans people wait until 25 the suicide rate would go up even further, and most people wouldnt pass if they had to wait until then.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

The suicide rate is the same post and pre op, why would it go higher? Besides, wouldn't most people realize they are the sex they are when the finally reach full maturity instead of fooling with hormones? Most kids who have gender dysphoria grow out of it, and it's very tough to determine who will and who won't grow out of it. Erring on the side of what happens to most kids, not going through hormone treatment seems to be the better deal for most kids. Most kids before 25, regardless of how adamant they are about their dysphoria, won't know who they'll be at 25.

It royally sucks for those that never grow out of their dysphoria, but I'd argue that therapy and acceptance will do more for their psyche than hormones and surgery. Again, surgery and hormones don't seem to fix the problem with the sky high suicide rate even post op.

[–]PugSwagMaster 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The suicide rate is the same post and pre op

No it isnt there hasnt been any studies in the last 20 years that have said that The only study that even says what you're implying was done in the 1980's and most doctors in the field agree that it's not true anymore

Most kids who have gender dysphoria grow out of it

You're talking about a study that didnt distinguish between kids that are gender variant (tomboys and tomgirls) and kids with actual dysphoria.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There's been at least one study in 2011 that analyzed suicides for trans, and found the rates for suicide to be much higher than any other population.

You're talking about a study that didnt distinguish between kids that are gender variant (tomboys and tomgirls) and kids with actual dysphoria.

The article I read specifically said kids with gender dysphoria tend to grow out of it. Now if you have a better study, I'll gladly read it. It doesn't change the fact that there's still a lot of development for humans between 18 and 25, and messing with hormones for teenagers growing through puberty isn't even remotely ideal, especially when you can't really tell who's dysphoric and who's simply variant. Hitting a pause button on puberty doesn't solve this, because the kids aren't developing like they should in puberty. It just pushes the problem on down the line.

I'm all for trans rights, and I'm all for treating them with the same measure of dignity and respect I'd treat anyone else. I'm not all for changing up the development of kids who are most likely confused on the very rare case they have full on gender dysphoria that only surgery and hormones can cure. IMO, most cases of kids wanting to transition are kids who are susceptible to suggestions and someone taking advantage of that.

[–]jeff_the_nurse 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

How is this a men’s rights issue?

[–]njullpointer 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not sure it is, really, but it's still interesting.

I'm also working to understand the criteria for pertinent posts here at mensrights.

So far I've got:

• Opening post uses a male pronoun

• Opening post describes a problem with feminists

• Opening post makes a joke

• Opening post complains about life

• Opening post introduces new member

• Opening post actually details a valid injustice against men

He /She should be allowed in the boys division.

[–]D2too -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

He /She should be allowed in the boys division.

He/she is not a boy, and on performance enhancing drugs. He/she should be banned from competing all together.

Or they can start a trans league where they fight each other. Or a drug league where anything goes I suppose.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah I heard that idea on JRE as well. They should have a natural league and a super athlete steroid league. It would definitely be more entertaining and might actually bring some viewers to the boring ass sport of wrestling. Baseball could definitely use some roided out homerun hitters. It hasn't been the same since all those big guys retired.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Actually you're right.

[–]KingRobotPrince 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm surprised he's actually happy about this. I can only imagine he's doing it as a protest against the rule:

Texas public high schools require athletes to compete under the gender on their birth certificate.

There's no real pride to beating someone if your taking drugs that make you much stronger than them. Even more if you personally identify as a man and you are fighting women.

The hatred and rudeness towards trans people in this thread is disheartening.

[–]Aivias 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Delusional people need mental health services, not politeness.

[–]skywreckdemon 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

And gender dysphoria is treated with transition.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, and other types of body dysmorphia are treated with removing hands, or sowing on additional legs... wait, no, that would be fucking insane.

[–]skywreckdemon 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Gender dysphoria doesn't work the same way BIID does. They are comparable, but not the same.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

There is no such thing as "gender dysphoria". You don't receive gender hormones and gender reassignment surgery, you recieve male/female sex hormones and sex reassignment surgery. Transexual people suffer from body dysmorphia just like everyone else. Stop making up random shit.

[–]skywreckdemon 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm not making it up. Research it yourself.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

I guess the idea of a grown man wrestling little girls doesn't bother you? I love all people. You know what else I love? fair competition.

[–]skywreckdemon 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I think he should get to wrestle with the boys, just like he wanted. And they're the same age.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Idk if he is really on steroids he shouldn't be allowed to compete in any sport. I think he is kind of a dick for going through with all of it in the first place. If I was refused to wrestle with my own gender I would no longer participate.

[–]skywreckdemon 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

He only has as much testosterone as any cis male. He's at a disadvantage with the guys, too, since he has smaller bones. So I see no harm in letting him compete with the guys.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Huh? You have no clue what this guy's testosterone levels are, how would you even obtain this information? I'm going to have to call bullshit on everything you just said until you provide sources and links. Sorry

[–]skywreckdemon 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Speaking as a trans man, I understand how transition works. They regulate hormone levels to be equivalent to that of cis mens'.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Oh so you are using personal anecdotes to reinforce your argument. That is always a solid move and plays out very well on reddit.

[–]skywreckdemon 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

No, I'm using my knowledge on how female-to-male transition works to explain why he can safely participate with the other boys.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He could easily be juicing way more than you did when you transitioned. It's a competitive sport and there should be NO exceptions to the rules.

[–]GTFonMF 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That ref looks super unimpressed.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

LOL! What do you want to bet that after she wins a few more titles she will decide that she's a girl after all? This kid probably just found the perfect way around the drug bans! I can see this happening at the Olympics pretty soon, too.

[–]LordChaoticX -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

So she used testosterone or other muscle enhancers to make her look like a man and give her extra strength? I call that cheating and unfair.

[–]skywreckdemon 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

*he

Regardless of where you think he should compete, there's no need to disrespect his gender identity.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

There is nothing disrespectful in calling a female a she, that's how English language works.

[–]skywreckdemon 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

He may be of the female sex, but he's a man because of his identity. No need to be a dick about it.

[–]LordChaoticX 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I am not a unicorn because I identify as such. There are much more severe cases that children are actually born half woman half man. It's time we stop encouraging them. It is a mental sickness regardless what people may feel about it. I am not against trans genders I don't hate them. What I hate is that people encourage them to be so. The same with people telling obese children that they are beautiful and not to care what other people think. I don't hate obese people I hate that they are encouraged and supported to kill themselves with food.

[–]skywreckdemon 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Listen, gender dysphoria is a condition, and professionals have determined that the proper treatment for us is to transition. It's not that deep.

[–]LordChaoticX 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I am no expert in this field. But wouldn't that be the same as incuraging a peaceful pedophile to embrace his love for children? Or any other mental illness that people seek help for? In my opinion the industry does not want to offend people or give away a potential money boat. They make millions in surgerys and hormonal medicines. I wouldn't want to lose that either especially when I spent 4 years in college learning how to do so. They make roughly 20,000 a surgery and that's just for a face reconstruct. For the full transitional surgery it's 50,000 plus.

[–]skywreckdemon 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's not the same thing. You could do research on your own to learn more about gender dysphoria and trans people in general.

And pedophiles, to some extent, are taught in therapy to embrace their attraction. Just not to act on it, because that's wrong. But they're taught not to hate themselves for it.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Nope, that's false. Sex reassignment surgery and hormone therapy is absolutely not practiced by most experts. It's considered extreme and there doesn't seem to be any improvement in long term results.

[–]skywreckdemon 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's just objectively false but whatever, live in ignorance if you wish.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

No, she isn't. The whole gender identity (not actual gender, but gender identity that is consciously chosen) is American invention, and as such irrelevant for the English language or anyone with a brain.

[–]skywreckdemon 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

It's not an American invention.

I'm starting to understand why r/MensLib hates this place...

Literally no one in the world except Americans has the concept of gender identity, that can be fucking anything including attack helicopters, is chosen by a person, and completelly independent of their actual sex or gender.

[–]skywreckdemon 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You clearly know nothing about any culture in the world.
