Can't be bothered to critique the whole thing but she's massively downplaying the mental illness side of it and drastically overdoing the entitlement angle.

The guys she mentioned were mostly completely mad. Elliot Roger had severe mental issues and deliberately attacked men and women who had wronged him in some imaginary way.

The pulse nightclub shooter is a terrible example. She uses him to link domestic violence with mass shootings, but doesn't mention the whole gay self-loathing homophobia angle, or the fact that he killed mostly men.

I think you definitely could say several of the shooters had a feeling of entitlement, but that was because they were suffering from a mental illness. They aren't "normal people".

If you actually read what the school shooters write, it's a lot of "I hate the world, I want to kill everyone and kill myself". You could say this was entitlement in the same way any murder is entitlement, as the killer feels entitled to take someone's life, but that's a stretch and doesn't support her point.

It reads like a shitty essay. A really poor use of evidence.

To make her point, she needs to rule out the biggest issue that disproves it and that's mental illness. Which she really doesn't do. The article she links to is about a shooter in Texas who escaped a mental facility and then shot up a church. The comments in the article says that when it comes to preventing mass shootings, mental illness is not what we should focus on to tackle mass shooting. Not that mass shooters aren't mentally ill. The argument they make is that not all mental people go on shooting sprees, so we should focus on guns, not the mentally ill. However, this in no way says that mass shooters aren't mentally ill. She has misunderstood the article she is using as evidence (or misrepresenting it).

It's a shame there is no comment section. I'd like to point this out to her.

There is a good post on trp atm about the real reason which is basically the way men are treated, not their male traits. A dog has sharp teeth but it will only bite you if you abuse it. And you wouldn't blame a dog that is beaten for biting you due to its aggression. You'd blame the owner for putting it into a position where it felt it had no other option

I'm sorry, but if you get to the point that you're willing to commit a mass shooting, youre definitely mentally ill. There is just no way you can be of sound mind and go through with something like that. That's like saying that people who attempt suicide, or torture animals, or hear voices in their head don't necessarily have to have a mental illness. It's kind of a prerequisite. That being said, that's not an excuse for it, just that it's definitely a cause of it.

Women fail when they try to commit mass shootings. Also, 99% of gun violence/deaths come from handguns and gang warfare.
