Who are your HVW role models?

For a long time, I had inconsistent friends who would disappear from my life as soon as they had boyfriends. To me, this is a clear sign of a pick me - a HVW should value her female friendships highly.

I have been very lucky to find a wonderful group of female friends over the last couple of years. They're badass women with good careers and other HV qualities, and we're truly supportive of each other.

My mom has also taught me so much of what I know. I grew up in the 80s/90s, and she always told me that school was the most important thing, and that boys could wait. She also made sure that my brother and I were both taught how to cook and do household chores; my brother asked for a doll and my parents bought him one without making a big deal out of it. I went to science camp when I was in elementary school, because that's what I was interested in. I never felt that my brother and I were treated different based on our genders. Now, despite being in my 30s, she has never pressured me to find a man - she understands why I am as discerning as I am, and I value her input on anyone I'm dating. I'm so lucky to have had her in my life.

My friend Helen. The woman is a queen and doesn't care what others think. She straight talks and doesn't talk behind your back. She understands cptsd and never invalidates me. I think the absolute world of her.

Amal Alamuddin.

She’s goals when it comes to career (I mean, a human rights lawyer, come on) and fashion wise. I also love the fact that she waited before she got married and had kids and had a life first (edit: and still does).

I’m not sure about George Clooney, I don’t know if he’s HV or not, but I think he’s a fortunate man.

Edit: and how could I forget Eartha Kitt.

Kelly Clarkson. If you guys arent familiar with her background (Kelly grew up with an absent dad and codependent mother) She is obviously a talented, self-made woman coming from American idol. She is recently divorced from her ex husband who tried to sue her for millions after she wrote the song Piece by piece for him(Typical scrote). Yet she handled it with grace and seems like a wonderful mom. Badass woman. And she’s a great judge and personality in The Voice. Always been a big fan and she inspires me in a very personal way.

Person in my life: My grandma taught me how to not be a “pickmeshia” before I ever heard of that term. I wish I listened to her in the past. She always told me to follow my dreams and prioritize my career + mental health over relationships and to avoid toxic people. She was beautiful in her prime(had a lot of suitors) so she had extensive experiences with scrotes. Sadly married an abusive one (so she wants to warn women as much as possible not to go down that road) Now she is 72 single and happy. She’s such an amazing, strong human being.

A physician I work with. She's got a no-bullshit attitude and does everything in her power to help every patient. She's extremely sharp. She has an incredibly powerful aura, she carries herself with confidence and knows her worth, but she doesn't look down on anyone. I learned a lot from her and I aspire to be more like her one day 😊

Famous: RBG and Meghan Markle. (With a pinch of salt, if you will, because we only know so much about them but till now everything is HVW qualities)

Personally: It's sad that i really don't know any HVW through and through because asian culture is so bent towards male dominance but due to fds, i'm learning to not repeat the same mistakes.
