Women who have lost weight, what was your experience with dating/men in general before and after?

I could chime in here regarding the guy's perspective. He will definitely notice the 15 lbs (if sometimes subconsciously). (My lady definitely notices my losing 15 lbs especially in the face). It is awesome for a guy to suddenly have a hotter woman - even if he is not the best at verbalizing that thought. He might gaze at you for longer and give you a bit more attention / love. You will feel much better about yourself, and that definitely shows up in more confidence to show off your beautiful self.

Over the last 18 months, I've slimmed down from about 150lbs to 127lbs (I'm 5'5"). I've never had issues getting first dates but since I've lost the weight it's made a huge difference in keeping guys interested and invested. Part of this is due to some other personal growth (and sorting out chronic pain issues), but the change in interest is obvious.

Guys chase me now for the first time in my life.

I think most guys would agree that 15lbs overweight is better than 15lbs underweight, but getting to your goal weight will have benefits even if they're subtle. Keep working hard! You got this!

When in the process of reducing my weight, male attention seemed to grow with every pound lost. I lost around 35 lbs and stopped because I felt content with my body.

After some time I started seriously lifting. Losing these last 15 lbs of fat actually narrowed the number of guys interested in me. I no longer get approached by random guys on the street and male acquaintances rarely express interest in me anymore.

15 pounds can often make quite a difference off your face :)

I was over-prescribed certain medication and put on 70lbs in 1.5-2 years... My habits weren’t great, which didn’t help. But that amount.....Even if I put on 2lbs of fat per month it wouldn’t have gotten that high. And then it just stopped, again, without any change to diet or lifestyle. My weight had a mind of it’s own and went from the set-point it was at when I was 26 to a new (much higher) set point at 28. I spent two years trying to lose the weight, but I could only seem to hover about 10lbs under my “set point”.

I’m off those medications now and I’m looking to lose those 70lbs and then some! I’m thinking intermittent fasting and, with God’s grace, fasting entirely 3 days weekly. Then once I drop some weight and it isn’t as hard on my body to exercise (when you exercise the weight on your joints doubles due to activity. So if a 250lb person went for a run they would be putting 500lbs of pressure on their joints....or so I’ve read) I’m going to slowly phase out 2 of the fast days for more exercise and then do 1 fast day weekly, healthy diet, and daily exercise to maintain.

My husband is amazing and tells me “You’re not less beautiful, you just look different, and that’s okay! But lets work on you getting yourself healthy” The poor man does NOT deserve a fat wife........

When I was thinner I had kind of an issue with men...I worked a retail job and I would have men coming in daily either asking for my number or being completely vulgar. Compliments and asking for dates is fine. I don’t understand why some women are bothered by men being men....why would they not be happy they’re considered attractive? However a man flat out telling you what he would like to do with you in the bedroom and insisting you kiss him before he’ll leave you alone.....not so great.

Now that I’m a homemaker I don’t need to worry about such things. I just want to be as beautiful as possible for my husband.

I think your ability to attract high quality men has little to do with luck. Personality, charm, the way you present yourself, and good social skills can go a very long way.

In the past, my problem was just the opposite of yours: little in the way of curves and my social skills could use a good makeover.

Anyway, keep yourself healthy and in decent condition and you'll be fine.

Losing weight will make you more attractive to some men and less attractive to other men.

BMI dependent attractiveness seems to be learned from the environment. In the Gravettian culture, long before money and wealth existed, men were making venus figurines of plump women.

I've known men who are only attracted to thin women, and some that are only attracted to fat women. I've heard that women over 400lb have an easier time getting dates than women over 300lb...possibly because their size makes them more visible.

In a big enough group of men, for EVERY size of a woman there will be a man who thinks that she is the perfect size. Unfortunately, I don't know the distribution.

"Participant demographics did not predict ratings over and above affiliation with either the FA or control groups"...which means that the stereotypes about black men and fat women are just plain wrong. There are proportionally just as many white guys as there are black guys who like the bigger ladies.

Unless you have weight-related health issues (like arthritis), don't stress out over your weight.
